10 reviews for Barrow Boy And Banker
| rabidbarfly (12), London, England | | May 25, 2009 Typical Fullers pub, not much going on as far as beer goes unless you like fullers. | | nate2g (151), Brisbane, Australia | | December 26, 2008 A beautiful old building with a great atmosphere. The beers are limited to Fullers only but nonetheless a good place to stop for a beer. Staff were friendly and the food was good. | | FatPhil (121), Espoo, Finland | | July 14, 2008 Lovely environs - most opulent. Good choice of Fullers beers. All well served. Friendly service, but surprised that I wanted some of the bottles not from the fridge. (Chilled strong ale? What are they on?) | | altonbrownd (71), Amsterdam, Netherlands | | January 19, 2008 Happened into this pub quite on accident, walking back into the City after a Southwark crawl. Stunning interior. Enjoyed a Fuller’s Honey Dew. Friendly service. | | ogivlado (145), Zagreb, Croatia | | December 29, 2007 Excellent Fuller’s pub with good beer selection (in Croatia is very hard to find any english beer). When I had been there (Saturday), pub was closing allready at 4.pm. Pitty. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | August 3, 2007 Absolutely beautiful 2-floor pub, a large hall that seems quite popular, but where you may find some room upstairs. Well, indeed not the best Southwark pub, the place feels a bit too big to be homey. The selection is also quite limited besides the Fullers cask, but you may want to try them at some point and this location is convenient. | | KnutAlbert (150), Oslo, Norway | | November 7, 2006 Crowed, noisy, avoid this in the after office rush hour. Loud music on top of this. Not for anyone over 30. There are lots of fine Fuller’s pubs in London better than this, and there are lots of better pubs in the nieighbourhood, too. | | fiulijn (198), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy | | December 11, 2005 I liked the atmosphere, probably the one I liked the most in london, maybe for the size and the light (other places are too dark, or too old and dismissed). The selection is ok, as you may find mainly Fuller’s casks; they also sell some bottles (for example the Celebration Ale), but unfortunately they don’t sell the Vintage Ale. The waitresses of course don’t know anything about the beers... | | chriso (161), London, England | | December 10, 2005 Fullers has made a bit of a speciality of converting these old banking halls to impressive pubs. The Counting House, The Old Bank of England and, on a smaller scale the Jugged Hare are other examples. Soaring ceilings with intricate mouldings and decoration, classical pillars and ornate tiling are the hallmarks. One other characteristic, because the original use was so different, is that the toilets are often tucked away up some stairs or in a corner and can be difficult to find, especially if the place is packed (as they invariably are). When I visited, service was quite efficient, despite the after work crowds, although its likely to be variable. Beer is the normal Fullers range and was in good condition when I visited. Fullers does have a sort of "A list" of pubs where the the occasional and one-off beers are available but I don’t know whether this one is on it. | | SilkTork (57), Rochester, England | | July 8, 2004 Stunning place. Huge. Despite being very open there are little corners to nestle in, and an upstairs section. An opulent place for Fuller’s fans. Not for those who are looking for an intimate place to drink. |
