July 15, 2009 [ Updated July 17, 2009 ] A Happy Hour dinner for two consisted of a $2 can of PBR, deviled eggs (two of ’em, halved, heavy on dijon, but good), an "8 oz" combo (big and juicy burger, a side, and a draft Telegraph Porter), and a "Melrose" combo (big and juicy burger, fries, and a soda). This all cost nearly $40, which seems fair considering the neighborhood, and the restaurant, which is sorta trendy. The food and drinks were satisfying, but nothing spectacular. Not a lot were actually on draft or available in bottle. A bomber of Arrogant Bastard went for $8, some Bruery beers went for $10. Overall, it was worth the hungry and definitely thirsty visit, but... the replay value isn’t high. |
July 2, 2009 This is my favorite burger bar in LA. Way better than the Counter. Love the atmosphere, it’s always busy and you can go there with your girlfriend or one of your mates and it’s fine. Reasonable beer selection. It’d be nice if they had sweet potato fries, but they only have sweet potato chips. Reservations suggested but not necessary if you don’t mind hanging out at the bar for a while. Bartenders are super friendly. I was in two minds about doing this review because I wanted to keep this gem to myself. Average price for LA, expect to pay $30 to $40 for dinner for 2. |
