5 reviews for Verdugo Bar
| beersearcher (12), Glendale, California | | October 22, 2009 Dark and very dive bar noir. Service is usually very speedy. Small but well curated list. For the list, the prices are good. Add in the patio and the occasional food and it is a winner. | | ajm (161), Los Angeles, California | | September 21, 2009 My new favorite bar in LA. Neighborhood is great, parking is great, ambiance is like a Spanish cave with class, the ladies behind the bar are very friendly, the tap list does work, and sometimes a dude cooks bacon-wrapped dogs out front. Boom. | | JoeTheYounger (15), California | | July 29, 2009 Finally got to go to Verdugo. I have been wanting to go here for a while now just never had the chance to do so. This place was totally different than I expected. It is kinda in a shady looking neighborhood. You walk in and the music is cranked really loud like you would expect at a night club. There were quite a few people there. It was so weird to see a place like this with such a great beer selection. I will definitely go back though for some more fun and good beers. | ChazMania (9), Pasadena, California does not count - explanation | | June 24, 2009 I have been here a few times, once alone and two times with a group of friends. THe place is a nice beer bar and has always had great beers on draft. Ryan, who I think might be a co-owner was very friendly and helpful. The couple ladies pouring beers were absolutely drop dead gorgeous. Inside, the music is way too loud to have any reasonable conversation, then there is a little seating area, and then the outdoor patio. The outdoor area is nice, although they could use a few more tables as there is alot of standing room. I have had FANTASTIC beers here, Pliny the Elder, Ballast Point stuff, DogFish Head, Avery Maharaja, Port Brewing 3rd Anninversary and probably others. Certainly will be back here. | | SamGamgee (86), Santa Cruz (La Selva), California | | May 26, 2009 It’s hard to believe that I’m the first rating for this place, as it’s a pretty nice little beer bar. I guess LA is just that spread out... Really dark and loungy interior with lots of leather and dark woodwork in the booths and bar. Looks like they had 20+ taps of all good craft stuff, plus a cooler filler with carefully picked bottles, of which Descutes Mirror Mirror, Ballast Point Tongue Buckler, and Russian River Consecration jumped out at me. The service was warm and friendly, and we had an interesting conversation with one of the owners about a crazy cat wandering around the back patio. They were actually having a special Ballast Point night, with a couple of the brewers hanging out talking to people, and several special kegs on tap in addition to all the BP regulars. It sounded like they are trying to make events like this a regular thing. I like what these guys are doing, and If I lived closer I would probably stop in pretty regularly. |
