10 reviews for Cloudwine Cellars
| jonno (27), Brisbane, Australia | | September 7, 2009 [ Updated September 22, 2009 ] I have only ordered online, but the service is pretty good (even if my order was delayed), prices are good (except for some imports) and selection is very good for australia. Would love to make it to the physical store. | vanvenlo (1), Glen Iris, Australia does not count - explanation | | August 29, 2009 [ Updated August 30, 2009 ] Burke Rd, Camberwell is now closed. The new owner has renamed the store and is avoiding beer and concentrating on wine. | | nate2g (151), Brisbane, Australia | | August 21, 2009 Visited the Clarendon store which has a small but quality range of beers. I managed to grab the last bottle of Holgate’s Christmas Ale which I didn’t see anywhere else - even the brewery didn’t have stock. Most beers are available on the website and the guys are opening up a beer dedicated store (Slow Beer) in Hawthorne soon. | bendybenbeer (1), , Australia does not count - explanation | | May 17, 2009 Maybe it was just the store I went into (Clarendon St.), but beer selection was really quite small, and very disorganised. Guy behind counter was not overly helpful, and when asked about a beer that I had seen on their website, they said they had never heard of it... Luckily Swords was open at the South Melbourne Market. Who knows, maybe their other stores are better stocked?! | gam (5), brisbane , Australia does not count - explanation | | September 5, 2008 Friendly staff, fast action once the order is sent to them, some interesting beers. | Thomo (6), Doncaster, Australia does not count - explanation | | August 6, 2008 Pretty smart little store in Burke Rd. Usual suspects on the Aussie micro front but had a good selection on the belgian side of things. A short cab ride from center of town, staff had good knowledge of whats on the shelf. Over all worth a look. | | UnholyBrewing (17), Melbourne(Mulgrave), Australia | | August 3, 2008 ...first stop in the Burke Rd store. Was at first disappointed in the selection, but then realized what they do have is pecuiar. Great selection of aussie micros, and also belgian wit’s, and german hefe’s. The attendant was more of a wine guy, but seemed nice enough. Prices were very reasonable, and I will return to this cellar again. | | voota (92), Melbourne, Australia | | January 16, 2008 Been to both the Brighton and South Melbourne Stores.. both have an excellent range, Victorian Micros and Belgians in particular are well stocked... and I reckon the prices are the best you’ll find in Melbourne. Staff are friendly, always willing to talk about beer and breweries. Pretty much my number 1 stop in town for buying beers.
| Lunkie (6), Glen Iris, Australia does not count - explanation | | April 2, 2006 [ Updated June 29, 2008 ] Great selection of beer and wine. Quite a few imports and micros I haven’t seen before. Staff are always happy to help or have a yarn. | | mullet (133), Melbourne, Australia | | August 4, 2005 [ Updated January 18, 2009 ] Battling it out with Purvis for the title of Melbourne’s best beer shop. Purvis has a decent advantage in range (mostly due to connections with the IBS in Perth it seems) but Cloudwine has the edge in most other respects - price and web info particularly, with a slight edge in staff knowledge/helpfulness (depends on who you get at Purvis). Run by Stew41 of this site and Chrism86 is their beer guy. Website is www.slowbeer.com.au which is constantly updated with all stock. Blog is slowbeer.blogspot.com. |
