10 reviews for Bier Stube
| kitschy (46), Nebraska | | August 16, 2009 Delightful find! Just around the corner from bent river. If you stay at the Radisson you will be in view of both. | | drowland (42), Tallahassee, Florida | | August 2, 2009 I go to this place at least once a week and I really enjoy my time whenever I visit.
The ambience is decent - German stuff thrown all over the place and there are always TVs with various sporting events on from baseball to soccer. Upstairs there is are old school arcade games and shufflepuck, which is always tons of fun.
I’ve never had a problem with service, whether sitting on the restaurant or the bar side. The waiters and waitresses are prompt and attentive and I’ve never had a mistake with my food order or beers.
The beer selection is pretty big with lots on tap and plenty of bottles to boot. The only drawback is that they don’t get new stuff frequently enough, and they have a hard time getting a lot of good specialties.
The food is mostly German fare that is all delicious. The selection of sausages are made by the meat company owned by the same person who owns the restaurant - and he’s an authentic German. Get a German dish and you won’t be disappointed!
The value can be great on the right nights. Mondays are $2.50 pints of about anything, and Wednesdays are $1 drafts of the common crappy beers, usually with something decent tossed in like Amber Bock or Leinie’s. Food specials vary from day to day and week to week, but there can be some great ones.
Overall, I really like this place and highly recommend it! | | Illini08 (34), Raleigh, North Carolina | | July 27, 2008 Been here a number of times. Lots of cool German swag on the walls. Great selection of German hefes, bocks, etc... Decent selection of American Micros. German food is authentic and excellent. Schnitzel, spätzle, and brown sauce is great. | | ¾ (599), Colorado | | January 9, 2008 Located right around the corder from Bent River, there’s a big difference in the type of crowd attracted to each place. Bier Stube had all the loud tables of amatuer drinkers you could ever hope for, and the beer selection was rather limited, of course focused on German beer, but most if not all of the selections you could find at other bars, and most likely at area beer stores as well. So, even though it’s close to Bent River, I won’t be visiting again. | mtdshn (4), Moline, Illinois does not count - explanation | | November 11, 2006 Fairly small bar with a restaurant that serves a nice selection of both German cuisine and a pretty good selection of beer. I won’t go into what beers are available as they have a listing on their website, but they do have very many on tap and a pretty good bottle selection. | | GeneralGao (220), Iowa City, Iowa | | October 3, 2006 German restaurant and bar in downtown Moline (right around the corner from Bent River Brewing). Great decor. They had 41 draught beers the day I visited. Lots of imports (mostly of the german persuasion), a few Anheuser-Busch selections, and a smattering of micros. More micros would be nice. I had a Berghoff Bock. I didn’t eat, but probably will when I go back. | daveco67 (6), Marion, Iowa does not count - explanation | | August 8, 2006 Great german beer selection on tap. They even have radler, which I haven’t seen since going to Munich. The german is good enough to compare to the food at the Amanas. My wife even likes going here. I haven’t been there when we could use the beer garden that they share with Bent River Brewing Company, but it looked very nice. | | oldrtybastrd (24), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana | | March 15, 2006 Hit this place twice for lunch, great german food. Beer selection was outstanding bottled and on tap. Would go back any time. Outstanding!! | | igneous1 (26), Davenport, Iowa | | April 25, 2005 [ Updated August 3, 2005 ] I didn’t eat at this Bier Stube (but i had some nice weisswurst at the other Stube). Nice beer selection, some really nice micros, but some of the selections are standard stuff. I much prefer the other Stube as the feel and ambiance of the place is more intimate. | | barleyPops (58), Quad-Cities, Illinois | | February 3, 2005 Huge selection of European beers and a nice selection of American micros. Some of the European brews include: Ayinger, Mahr’s, Erdinger, Orval, Spaten, Tichar, Fullers & Paul Aner. American micros from Bell’s, Sprecher, Point, Schell’s, Goose Island, Leinenkugal, Sam Adams, Sierra Nevada & Boulevard. The food is outstanding with authentic German fare and a recently expanded sandwich menu. The Oktoberfest celebration is not to be missed. Live bands, barrel rolling contests & more. |
