7 reviews for The Ginger Man (;;Norwalk);;
antnee1515 (2), Connecticut does not count - explanation | | July 30, 2009 One of the better -- if not best -- beer pubs in all of Southern Connecticut. It boasts a wide (and I mean, "wide") selection of beers on tap along with a great menu. The beer dinners sponsored by breweries are highly recommended and sell-out quickly. Also, the staff knows their stuff! | BellsFan (2), Michigan does not count - explanation | | July 14, 2009 Visited friends in CT. One of the best places I have had beers at. Outstanding selection. 58 on tap and 100+ bottles. We went there just for the beer, so I can’t rate the place on food. I will make my way back there! | | joebudzjoe (19), Connecticut | | July 7, 2009 Much better than the Greenwich location. Funny note, Bungalo22’s rating is spot on how despite the wide selection of beers, most of the crowd nurses Bud bottles or mixed drinks. Oh well, their loss. This place has 40 beers on draft and couched nooks are available to patrons who arrive early. | | Bungalo22 (22), Bridgeport, Connecticut | | May 10, 2008 I was impressed with the beer selection but there was little on the menu that made me go WOW. The crew seemed knowledgeable and they understood the proper glassware. Sometimes they seemed to not care to much. Funny while I was there I saw a number of Coors Light and Buds purchased. Not sure i get that. I give it a higher overall based on the competition lacks in comparison. | crazyvin (1), New York does not count - explanation | | July 5, 2007 [ Updated February 9, 2009 ] I really like this place, i have been here 3 times and every time i have been satisfied. Although the didn’t seem to knowledgeable about the beer selection, they were really helpful and quick. All though the menu was extremely limited, the quality of the ingredients were superb. | georgekappus (2), Brookfield, Connecticut does not count - explanation | | May 20, 2007 The 52 taps is impressive in Fairfield County CT. The diverse variety of beers was also impressive. However, the menu was very limited and somewhat disappointing. Considering this is a restaurant geared toward the beer connoisseur our waiter was not versed in the beer menu nor the food menu for that matter. This was gravely disappointing due to the Ginger Man name being so closely associated with beer. As of the date we went the restaurant has been open for 6 weeks and they have yet to show they are open for business on the web. I hope that this restaurant realizes their potential and corrects these issues. | | Cletus (175), Connecticut | | May 17, 2007 [ Updated May 3, 2009 ] Located where Amberjacks used to be. The Ginger Man located here offers much more on draught than the Greenwich, CT location and has a nice outdoor patio to boot. The place is typical large bar/restaurant (Sono locals will know what I’m talking about) and has some decent food and beers available on draught.
UPDATE: I have to give this place a lot of credit. After the initial growing pains associated with opening a new place, the staff working there is very knowledgeable, the selection is the best I’ve seen in Connecticut, and they take good care of their beer lines and casks. While there, I had a properly pulled cask beer from England that was served at the correct temperature, 2 pints of Fastenbier (AFAIK, this is the only place in CT that currently has this gem on druaght), HeBrew Jubilation, 2007 Bigfoot, and they had about 30 other beers on tap, an impressive bottle list, and even an vintage cellar. They also have a great late night menu that they didn’t have before. They |
