trog404 (5), Winter Park, Florida does not count - explanation | | November 11, 2009 A dive bar with local music every so often, background music is put to a level where you can still have a conversation. Pub Grub is for snacking not meals and enhancing the taste of their beer. Beer is well priced and fair for what you’re getting. They don’t carry macro brews and people should be warned that this is a beer parlor not a bar. If you go into this place they will be able to find you a beer you like but it probably won’t be anything you’ve ever heard of or are likely to find at your local grocery store. Welcoming and inviting place easy to see why they’re on the top of the list of bars to go to. | | DeadGirl (32), West Palm Beach, Florida | | October 29, 2009 Simply put, their beer selection is amazing. I mean, they have Cigar City!Whatever style I’m in the mood for they have it. And the people (bar staff and customers) are all very friendly. You can go again and again but you’ll never leave feeling satisfied only because you can down so many beers and it’s torturous to leave so many, quality, hard to find ales unrated. #25 on 29102009, DG. | | changeup45 (46), Orlando, Florida | | September 21, 2009 I’m surprised I never rated this place. Visited quite a few times now (just once at the old Winter Park location). Reminds me in a lot of ways of my favorite hangout when I lived up north with a funky relaxed atmosphere and no TVs, except with a much much better beer selection. Matter of fact, Redlight has the best beer bar selection I’ve ever seen with some crazy rare stuff that’s always served with the proper glassware. New stuff going on I’ve never heard of all the time and you can spend some time going through the bottle list. Draft specials are flat out cheap and bottles very affordable as well. I’ve never really engaged in much conversation with the owner or other employees but they seem very friendly and definitely know their beer. If you’re serious about beer and want a place to chill out at, without the gimmicks, I can’t imagine wanting to go anywhere else in the area. Please ignore the ratings below, I suspect they took a wrong turn and ended up at the Roxy. | sashanovkov (3), Florida does not count - explanation | | July 20, 2009 Incredible selection of beer, great atmosphere! | | pjbern571 (19), Florida | | July 4, 2009 Very Unique Place, highly reccommend it to any beer lover, have some very unique beers to the area and the staff is excellent. | | sebletitje (78), Tampa, Florida | | May 22, 2009 Visited after GOBF.
Nice little spot. RL does live up to its reputation, and the owners really do their very best to bring some very rare gems to FL that can even be rare in the Southeast.
Had a good time there, and it is a good thing they have an outside area as the live bands make it nearly impossible to have any kind of conversation. Hopefully it doesn’t happen too often, but that was my only complaint about the place. It does have this college student hangout spot feel. Also found place to be a little too dark inside.
Overall nice place with some solid offerings, and good spot to hang out with the ORL homers.
| | northernbrews (10), Allen Park, Michigan | | April 8, 2009 What an awesome beer bar! Stopped in here on a Thursday during the Chunk and Patriot Throwdown at Beerlando’s. Cool ass atmosphere, great bottle and tap list, awesome owner and staff...can’t ask for much more than that. Had a few pints of the first commercially available keg of Cigar City Maduro Brown, some St. Petersburg Imperial Stout on the hand pull, and a Hanseens Cassis...then the crazyness started. All the Rate locals brought some goodies to share. Had Lust and Pride from Midnight Sun, Consecration, JP Luciernaga 06, Luciernaga Grand Reserve 21 month, Lucy Grand Reserve 12 month, Roja Grand Reserve 32 month, Fuego 2006, Madrugada 2006, Buzzards Bay Cranberry Lambic, Lindemans Cuvee Rene Kriek and some others. Can’t think of a better beer bar I’ve been to. If you’re in the area, you’d must stop in. | | SHANER4 (16), Green Bay, Wisconsin | | April 4, 2009 My girlfriend and I stopped at the Redlight when we were on vacation in Feb. It was a little difficult to find because the sign out front was for a mexican restaurant. The bar tender later told me they were getting that taken care of. The atmoshere is more like a college/hippie hangout. It was movie night so they had Dirty Harry playing on the screen and a few people watching it. The selection of beer was great, with wide variety of sours, stouts and saison. I had a Hopslam from the tap and Expedition Stout from the bottle. The beer was excellent and the atmoshere is kinda strange but all in all it was a good experience. So if you get the chance and you’re in the area this is a must stop for any beer geek!! | | knightdr (12), Valrico, Florida | | March 23, 2009 The best bar available in all of Central Florida (including Tampa). Knowledge, selection and Service take Brent and Redlight Redlight over the top. Only hassle is trying to find it (even with the new location LOL). Well worth a couple U-turns! | | daknole (90), Plantation, Florida | | March 19, 2009 Hell yeah! This is a beer bar folks. Damn how I wish I lived nearby. Bottles, taps, special kegs, beers being shared...owner knows HIS SHIT! The orlando crew is lucky, lucky, lucky. And redlight is lucky to have them. dont miss this when in orlando!! |
