June 27, 2008 [ Updated May 15, 2009 ] I had driven by this place a couple of times in the past, and never really thought about it as a beer place until it was entered in the db by ccoburn. I needed a place to watch Russia-Spain yesterday, and figured an Irish/Scotch/Welsh place in a converted church would turn on the match for me. They were very accommodating, even turned on the sound throughout the bar/restaurant. The service from start to finish was top notch. However, my friend and I were pretty much the only people in here at 3pm on a Thursday. The beer selection here was above average for KC bars. Not quite on par with Waldo, Grinders or Flying Saucer, but certainly something you can find and enjoy. I agree the best feature is the two beer engines. Hennepin and Scrimshaw were still the featured beers on engine, and I had one of each. Hennepin really worked. The food was really good pub grub as well - I started with the Rarebit, and had a Sausage Sandwich on pretzel bread. If you find yourself out this way, certainly check it out. |
