January 29, 2009 [ Updated March 3, 2009 ] (Visited 06/2008): My first visit to a Bevmo was a complete surprise on a visit to BJ’s to meet some family for dinner. This location is in a strip mall just off the 138 on Rancho Vista and 10th. There is a large parking lot out front.
The interior is open and spacious, with well- organized and well-lit aisles. The beer is in the rear of the store (aside from a couple kegs at the entrance) and is segmented by region. The West has very good representation, with brewers like Stone, Alesmith, Lost Abbey/Port, Rogue etc. There are also good selections of imports from Germany, Belgium and the UK.
Service here is pretty good, although they do not allow you to make your own singles like most grocery stores in the state allow. Bevmo also sells shipping containers on site in case you go on a shopping spree and need to either send something home or check it.
Overall I was pleased with my first Bevmo visit and plan on stopping any time I see one around California.
