| Holdwine (12), Beertimore, Maryland | | November 22, 2009 Great place to get fresh and special to the brewpub drafts. They can even sell you some aged favorites. Nice menu and good, well prepared food. Still, it is a bit pricy and the service on a slow weekday afternoon was slow and disintested. | | RHeastings (20), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | November 15, 2009 Visited on vacation. The place is a nice combination of beach restaurant and brewpub. The food is a wide array of items, but actual execution is a bit short of greatness. The beer, which is what people are coming for, is the standard selection of Dogfish Head classics, along with some special stuff that is only available at the brewery (I had the AlterBoy, which was a not-very-well-done version of a Belgian dubbel). We were also there when Randal the Enamel Animal was on the taps, which adds an unbelievable complexity to Dogfish Head 90 minute IPA. Overall, we would go again because we love Dogfish Head. Everything else was good, but not great. | | jbender (18), Hatboro, Pennsylvania | | November 2, 2009 Took a pretty long drive from Philly to try this place out before I leave for awhile. The place had a small brewpub feel, but was completely empty due to it being out of season. I must say I was dissappointed with their selection. While I had read about the semi-limited selection, I still wanted more than what was there. Either way, the food was good and the price was cheap for the quality beer, but I don’t think I’d drive that distance again to go there. | | jmm635 (33), Havertown, Pennsylvania | | November 2, 2009 Very cool atmosphere. Has that laid back beach vibe that is really cool and relaxing. Would have loved to go on the distillery tour, but that was not available when I stopped in over the weekend. Service was ok - seemed like our waitress was having a bad day.
Good selection of their beers, but I was hoping for some of the special/seasonal release beers. Almost everything on tap was what I see on tap all over Philly. Hard to complain about DFH taps, though. Food was also good. Typical brewpub food, nothing real special. | | CanIHave4Beers (54), Des Moines, Iowa | | October 19, 2009 Nice little brewpub, very friendly and the food was excellent. The thing that got me about the place was that it still had that small brewpub cafe feeling to it. I went on the distillery tour which was pretty awesome; their master distiller is a very nice young lady who was more than informative in a very conversational, non-brew-tour kind of way. The beer here is of course all Dogfish head, but they have a very wide range of the different styles they make, the beer is of course all very fresh. The staff was all very knowledgeable and helpful. We had pizza for lunch and went back for dinner of fish and chips, the portion sizes are fairly big but the food is excellent. I really dig the little beach town of Rehoboth Beach and if I’m ever in this neck of the woods again I will no doubt return. | | JFURYCAT (34), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania | | July 26, 2009 We went down here on a Sunday after having spent a week in OBX. It is well enough away from the beach that parking was ample and crowds were non existent. The brewpub has a washed out lifeguard shack decor inside (not as washed out as say OBX Brew Pub) and its exterior blends in well with this old bohemian beach town. Its easy to miss unless you see the sign. I like the area upstairs with the pinball machines and pool tables. They played recordings of local artists which were mostly okay.
A beer knowledgeable manager checked up on our service and introduced offerings we hadn’t been told about. Samples were free and unlimited.
I was a bit disappointed in the beer selection as I didn’t see much I couldn’t get elsewhere except for the 120 and a few vintage six packs behind the bar. Its nice having 90 minute on tap. Santo Marrin was on tap. 75 was gone: it comes in Thursday. The vodka seemed inviting but I had a long ride coming back to the Poconos.
The burgers seemed good but the pizza was very basic with a cracker-like texture in the dough. They try to keep all ingredients as local as possible.
As far as prices, this place was a steal. My wife and I had lunch for $30 with two beers and our toddler had enough to eat too. If I lived or stayed nearby, I’d be here all the time. I like the friendly bar and restaurant atmosphere. Despite the brand name, this brew pub has a great local feel. I really enjoyed talking with the staff and customers.
I’m not sure how much of a beer destination this is: to me it felt more like a celebration of DogFish Head and the principles the company follows. | | grandet (13), Scranton, Pennsylvania | | July 25, 2009 I go here every summer. The place has a great feeling right when ya walk in the door. Crowded most of the time but thats ok. Food is ok, but there is usually something different and new on tap. Overall a great palce to stop when u are down there. | | CharlesDarwin (144), Point Judith, Rhode Island | | June 3, 2009 Stopped by this place to meet some friends and enjoyed a pint of Festina Peche. Somehow, I expected that closer to the source it would be much more affordable. I was wrong. The service was fine and I didn’t try the food. The ambiance seemed to fit in just fine with the overall appearance of Rehoboth. It’s a little schmalzy and it’s cool to get their craft liquers. The Jin was great. | | dnstone (17), , New Jersey | | April 16, 2009 This was the key stop on an East Coast road trip and it was worth the drive out of the way. After a long drive from VA I arrived to find the place packed for a beer dinner celebrating the release of Sam’s Extreme Home Brewing book. Unfortunately the dinner was sold out, but they did manage to find space for me in the upstairs (distillery) seating area. The food was good as was the selection of beers, a few beyond their normal distributed beers, all of which were great! I also managed to get my hands on the last of the books available that night and Sam and Mariah graciously took a few minutes to chat and sign the book. Over all it was a great experience, only could have been better if I had known/was able to take part in the beer dinner. Since then I have been back twice while in the area for business; the food, beer and service have never disappointed! You may not find every DFH beer on tap on every visit, but tone must consider that this is not a beer bar but a laid back family orie | | MadIndian (15), Levittown, Pennsylvania | | September 28, 2008 Went their with Stegosaurus 9/27/08.
The Pros
The place was small but nice and fully packed. We sat at the bar and the waitress and Bartender were very friendly. The beer was super fresh, the 90 min and Palo was incredible on draft. I learned that they have their own vodka, rum etc etc.
The Cons
I was a little dissapointed when the bartender did not know what style of beer Theobroma was and both Steogsaurus’ and my burger was burnt even the roll. They also need a larger bathroom area. I was hoping for World Wide or 120.
