6 reviews for Mekong Restaurant
dben900 (3), richmond, Virginia does not count - explanation | | September 3, 2009 Best selection of Belgian ales in Richmond. Great beer events. An is a gracious host who is always eager to introduce his patrons to new beers. Food is damn good, too. | | dkachur (114), Charlottesville, Virginia | | August 28, 2009 [ Updated December 6, 2009 ] I just finished the leftover food from this place. Damn. A definite must-stop in Richmond. Located west of town on Broad Street it looks very nondescript. Definitely doesn’t get marks for curb appeal. The inside, however, is nice. The food is outstanding. I had catfish in a pepper, scallion, bacon and garlic sauce which was just outstanding. Portions are ample for good prices. There is a good chance you’ll pay more for your beer than your food. Lots of choices on the menu. Extensive bottle list focusing on Belgians with some other regions represented. They now have draft beer with 5-6 taps. Beer prices are good, especially the bottle prices considering the restaurant markup (~16 for all of the Belgian 750s). Plenty of parking in the back. I went on a Friday night (big mistake) as the place was absolutely packed. I timed it right though as I got the last free table and there was quite a line as I left. Overall great food, great beer, great prices. | | phukktifano (12), Richmond, Virginia | | May 27, 2009 The food is amazing. The beer selection is impressive. The prices are more then fair and the service is perfect. What more could anyone ask for? | | MaltDawg (11), Richmond, Virginia | | March 25, 2009 [ Updated September 13, 2009 ] Family run restaurant in near west-end Richmond. Relaxed no frills solid quick friendly service. Food is excellent, fresh, large selection and well prepared. Selection of Belgian beers is outstanding | | Butters (150), Virginia | | May 17, 2008 The beer selection at this place is astounding and the food is great, what more could you want? How about a bottle of 2004 Arrogant Bastard? or a 2000 Samiclaus? or perhaps a bottle of Three Philosophers inaugural brew? You’ll find all of the above at this place. I’ve never been a fan of vietnamese food, but i’ll definitely be back to this place for sure. | | maniac (90), Richmond, Virginia | | March 5, 2007 This is decent Vietnamese restaurant. The food is quite good and the service was very nice. If you didn’t know in advance, you wouldn’t expect much for a beer selection here, however the manager is a big beer fan and keeps the place stocked with a nice selection of bottle, primarily belgian. This is a bottle only bar, but for Richmond it’s selection is second only to Capital Ale House. |
