| xs2500 (11), Mississippi | | June 25, 2009 Well worth the trip! Owner is nice and active on this website, seems to be always searching for new brews to bring in. If your ever around the Richmond area you’d be silly not to stop by. | | kennydiaz (14), staten island, New York | | June 16, 2009 A very nice selection. The store is a little small but well organized and the staff new where everything I asked for was. They took me around the store and made suggestions. Nice selection of Bells. Founders, Southern tier and various Belgiums. When I was leaving the store the helped carry out my cases and gave me a hard time about accepting a tip. I will go back on my next southern road trip it was about a mile off 95 which is a plus. | | zizzybalubba (33), Elizabeth City, North Carolina | | April 5, 2009 Not much in the way of ambiance but the selection easily makes up for it. Great beer store. Easily worthwhile. | | dkachur (114), Charlottesville, Virginia | | June 13, 2008 [ Updated June 8, 2009 ] In a sort of out of the way area of town, but worth it. Great beer selection, though it is a little pricy. Lots of foreign beers and the local and US stuff is well represented also. Cute dog running around. Helpful employees, though I hear the owner can be a bit rude. Nice glassware selection. Open parking lot in front of the store with lots of neighborhood folk around... I really like the vibe here. | hophead311 (3), does not count - explanation | | April 4, 2008 I felt like a kid in a candy store here. I’m not used to this type of selection back in Tidewater, at least not in a store. The people who worked there are very cool. There was a dog roaming around most of the time. Luckily, I went here first on my beer store tour. I can’t wait to go back again and again. | Speedle (6), Mid-Atlantic (Tour 2007-2008), Virginia does not count - explanation | | February 13, 2008 I try to stop here whenever I’m in Richmond .... A nice hidden gem... great selection, a little overpriced but who cares about paying an extra buck for something that sells out before you get there, somewhere else ....... no pressure, they will answer any question you have if you ask, but they leave you alone ..... this place has a nice hometown feel and is a must visit if you’re in Richmond | | Butters (150), Virginia | | February 9, 2008 This place definately has quite the selection. I too, like stegosaurus, have had to wait up to 5 minutes to get checked out before, but it is well worth the wait. But I actually LIKE the fact that the staff isn’t constantly trying to ’help’ me. I enjoy it when a beer store just lets me scope out there selection in search of those not-so-common brews. I always feel better when I find a good rare beer myself than have a clerk try to shove bottles in my face just because he likes a particular style. | | bryandhargrave (13), Richmond, Virginia | | December 19, 2007 i went in, i bought A LOT of beer, like 160 bucks worth. i had a pile of beer on the counter and made several trips. they didnt care. cracked jokes with me and were very personable. cashier filled up boxes for me and helped me carry them to my car. much more beer than the typical small wine spot. dug it. will go back. lots. | adam7679 (3), Ringgold, Georgia does not count - explanation | | September 10, 2007 Stopped by while in town for the Richmond race. My only complaint was that I couldn’t fit more beer in my suitcase. This is one of the best selections that I have ever seen. I e-mailed the store, and Emily put a 120 minute and a RR Tempation behind the counter waiting for me. Great Service. Bear Republic, Allagash, plenty of Unibroue, Dogfish Head, Russian River to name a few, but too many to list. A great beer store. | | Braudog (476), Dayton, Ohio | | August 26, 2007 Stopped for some take-homes after the Shockoe Craft Beer Festival and was heartily impressed. Even though my wife was hurrying me along, I walked out with a case of singles, mostly imports, but even some Rogue, Green Flash and Stone that I can’t get in SE Virginia. And the proprieter gave me a 5% military discount. All the way nice. |
