La Mesa Location: Great selection of local craft & micros. Decent options for national better known craft brewers, the international selection is also good. Prices are with some great values. Bevmo has a great selection of brews and they are all reasonably priced. Their stores are clean and they usually have lots of sales. Staff is friendly but not very knowledgeable... they are just people working a job, not beer/wine experts. Head to the Grossmont/La Mesa location, seems to have the best stock.... I usually shop at the LaMesa/Grossmont Bevmo, sometimes I visit the Mission Valley location. This is a great store chain for beer as there is always very good selection of crafts at reasonable prices. The staff however (IMHO) does not know beer. Just try asking them if there is any Eisbock, or a Berliner Wiesse, in the store. Perhaps this is an unfair barometer of service, but I get the feeling that they really just don’t care. In the event I need to ask a question I have to stalk and corner an employee they could call this Walmart liquor. A very large selection of beer and wine. Many macros so the selection for beer geeks isn’t really that great. Prices are good and predictable (never over priced). I usually stop by once a month to check things out. They will order anything for you (they did for me, so I gave them a good service rating). |
