| carruthm (26), Seattle, Washington | | December 11, 2009 Love this place as a fall back in the CapHill area. Great late night happy hour, all ages friendly and rotate/create their beers often enough that there’s usually something new for me to try. Unlike stadium location, no service issues here. | | 22415brewery (19), redmond, Washington | | November 2, 2009 Unbeatable in-house selection, huge list of available drafts including several seasonals and one-timers. The Elysian’s beers are all about high gravity accompanied with high flavor and often complex malt and fermentation nuances. Although parking can be a nightmare on the hill, there is no lack of other amazing food and nightlife venues in the area. The food is well above average for a brewpub featuring seasonal fare and belgian inspired dishes that are moderately priced. There’s a certain dying-goth industrial feel to the building and a dark but welcoming atmosphere. The beer speaks for itself, is well brewed, and there are more than enough styles to please everyone. My favs are the Bete Noel Belgain Dark Strong Ale, Dragonstooth Stout, and The Wise ESB. | | AmEricanbrew (78), Wynot, Wyoming | | October 21, 2009 The original, and my favorite of the Elysian brewpubs. This location has by far the best staff of the three locations. Big open room seating area with tall windows offering a view of the urban street scene on Pike. Have yet to stop by here and not find something new on tap. Elysian bottles available to go. Great place. | | CheersMate1 (34), Atlanta, Georgia | | August 16, 2009 Elysian was nice. It is in a pretty interesting part of town. Nice tap selection I must say. There must have been close to 20 taps. I had a few beers that were pretty good i.e. Trip III, and the Bye Bye Frost, along with the sampler. The service was nice, the food was decent. I got drunk at this place comfortably. Also, I was able to pick up a 22 oz. afterwards. Elysian does a fine job with their beers. Unlike Atlanta, they actually sell their beers in stores which seem to sell quite well. I would definitely come back to Elysian. Nice place with good beer and service. | | Poperinge (120), Cowtown, Alberta | | July 12, 2009 Nice selection of their beers and an occasional guest tap. The bartender was wearing a Hunter S. Thompson t-shirt and really seemed to be enjoying his job. Good beers, good company, good bar. | | leems (27), Portland, Oregon | | May 18, 2009 Visited mid afternoon on a Monday, obviously slow but the service was friendly and quick, they knew a lot about their beers. The selection was all Elysian as expected but they covered all the styles and even had some unexpected fun seasonals. I didn’t eat anything but I definitely stop by and try a meal there next time I’m in Seattle. | | theisti (114), Leawood, Kansas | | May 15, 2009 Visited for the Firkin Fest on May 12th, 2009. Really big, open place - lots of room in the bar, many tables, and a great big area in back where they had a second bar setup for the Firkin deal. The Firkin fest itself was setup really well, and run perfectly. Hats off to that, not an easy feat I am sure. The crowd in the place was great, and the service was good despite being really busy. Selection is a bunch of their own beers, plus well chosen guests. On this particular night, there were also the 8 Washington cask beers up against the 8 California cask beers. I didn’t have any food, but it all looked good coming out of the kitchen. Overall, cool place with a lot more character than the other Elysian (Fields) I have been to. | | jbrus (110), Delft, Netherlands | | May 8, 2009 Quite large and open, bit dirty and alternative looking place. Help was very friendly but not so knowledgeable. They are kids friendly what cannot be said for every brewpub. They had quite a few of their own beers on tap and some guests. The food we had was OK and enough. | | Dogbrick (218), Columbus, Ohio | | January 29, 2009 (Visited 05/2008): This Elysian Brewing location is on Pike Street right off of East Madison. There is street parking around but I imagine it is hard to find at peak times.
The interior is well-lit due to large windows. The space is a split level, with the bar area toward the front and table seating in the rear. The beer list is on wooden signs behind the bar. The brews are available in 2 different levels of samplers for either $6.95 or $7.95.
As for the beers, Elysian boasts a healthy array of beers, including guest taps from their other locations. They have a total of 16 taps plus one cask, and the beers are eclectic in style. All of the beers were above average in varying degrees.
Service was very good on a weekday afternoon. The bartender was attentive and had a good grasp of all the beers.
The food at Elysian must be very good if the Steak Frites are any indication. The appetizer was excellent.
Overall I would put this place at the top of the 3 brewpubs I visited on my Seattle trip. | | YogiBeera (109), Hamburg, Germany | | January 12, 2009 Nice place- a bit loud with the tvs and the bartender was in a grumpy mood. But the selection was fine, the beer was good. And definetley a place I would go back to. |
