| PilsnerPeter (95), Flushing, New York | | July 14, 2009 Finally made the trip out here. Had a great time. Ordered a couple of pints and sat outside in the small seating area to catch some sun. Nice and quiet, laid back scene on a Friday afternoon. The staff was very friendly, and I actually got lucky. One of the main brewers overheard that I came all the way from Queens just to go to the brewpub and he came out of the back with a bottle of RIS as a gift! That was a huge plus. Other than that, the regualr selection is mainly stuff you can access easily at local NY bars. They have a couple of bottles in a cooler for selection which was cool. Not a bad stop. | | Pwn3d (38), Manhattan, New York | | May 17, 2009 Went here during my first ever trip to long island. Very nice ambiance and an impressive offering. Good sized building. Nice bar area and sitdown area. Looks like they put a lot of attention into the food, although I did not try it. Several brews, especially the big boys, are bottle only. | | NYbeer (11), | | April 1, 2009 Been to the Publick House numerous times. Nice size bar area with several flat screen TVs. Have had great service each time at both the bar area and the restaurant area. They have 5 regular tap selections with 3 seasonal tap selections. Food is basic bar fare. Their burgers and sweet potato fries are superb. Prices are reasonable. Definitely worth a visit. | | MrChopin (19), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania | | February 16, 2009 Stopped up for the 2/14 release. There were a couple things I loved about this place: the taps of their rarest, the friendly vibe, the spacious room of dark wood and dim lighting... it would be perfect if it was on the oceanfront somewhere in Maine. The service was a little slow and the menu pretty standard, but my sandwich was spot on. The big drawback is of course the long ass trip to get up there (I wouldn’t make the trip for a regular visit), but for special releases, it’s well worth the trek. | | LilBeerDoctor (29), East Setauket, New York | | June 26, 2008 [ Updated August 3, 2008 ] Nice restaurant/brewpub. I’ve been there twice in the afternoon and both have been good times. The food is pretty good and service is excellent. They have 5 beers on tap year round and 2-3 seasonals ($5-$6 per pint). Plus they have their bombers and 750s available. The atmosphere is quite pleasant and they have several large TVs with sports on regularly. Realize that this brewpub is quite far east on LI and sometimes it’s hit or miss with their seasonals. But if you are nearby, it’s a fun place to go. | | CharlesDarwin (144), Point Judith, Rhode Island | | May 21, 2008 In all honesty, I was rather underwhelmed by this place. I took the train down from Montauk one evening this January to get the full experience. I walked over from the train station and found the place in a largely sleepy state (it was mid-week). I took a seat at the bar and was promptly ignored. I ordered a sampler and a crab-cake sandwich. The sandwich was ho-hum and the beers in the sampler were pretty middle of the road. The few fellow bar patrons were an interesting mixed bag of Hamptonites and displaced NYCers. I wasn’t able to buy any beers from the brewery that I haven’t seen anywhere else. Maybe worth a stop if they’ve got something special going on, otherwise, just seek out their limited beers. | | dmac (27), Toms River, New Jersey | | February 22, 2008 Wow the comments are all over the place for this one. I was there on Saturday Feb 16th for the IRS release. Let me start by saying the bartender, Chris?, really impressed me. The crowd had to be 3-4 times the usual Saturday lunch crowd becasue of the release but he handled it like an expert. No one waited more then a few minutes, he remembered everyones order and ws really on top of his game. They only serve their own beer so the beer list isn’t that impressive but soid none the less (about 6 beers that day including the IRS). The food is average to slightly above average, the nachos were good but the crab cake was very generic and seemed like a giant version of a frozen and reheated appetizer. If your gonna hit up several places on LI then it’s worth stopping by here. To go just for this place I would have to say unless there is a special release it’s probably not worth the drive. | adrian910ss (6), philadelphia, Pennsylvania does not count - explanation | | February 20, 2008 Nice place in an affluent community. Drove up from Philly with a couple of beer geeks for the release of the imperial stout. Nice atmosphere and good food. Will come again. | | hopdog (197), Lansdale, Pennsylvania | | February 16, 2008 Nice place. I only stopped by to pick up their RIS that was being released today. Didn’t eat any food (but my kids enjoyed their pasta!). I would definitely stop in again if I’m ever in the area. | WhiteAlePower (2), Long Island, New York does not count - explanation | | February 11, 2008 One of my favourite places to go in the country. The food is always top notch, along with their selection of beers! HIGHLY recommended for those who are not afraid of the Hamptons. |
