Some of my best (late) college memories came from this place! I had my first Blue Moon here and it was in a bottle WAY, WAY, WAY before it was ever mainstream as well as most other craft beers. This place is a must see for all FSU students once they posess a real ID and a few more dollars than what is required at most FSU bars. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE AND HAVE GREAT, FOND MEMORIES HERE! A WHITLOCK LOVE YOU, MEAN IT ; )

Smokey, crowded, but with a nice amount of beers. Parking is also an issue.

Just moved to Tallahassee and of course had to visit Leon’s. It’s an experience... everyone should go there... at least once.

The ambiance is about like everyone else has described. If you like dive bars, and I do, it’s a neat place. There’s goofy shit and old video games (non-working) sitting around all over the place. There are plenty of crazy beer signs, mirrors, and all kinds of wacky shenanigans... the problem is that you can barely see any of it through the huge cloud of smoke that fills the place.

The service is okay... the place is absolutely packed to standing room only on the weekends, yet they only have two bartenders working, and they simply cannot keep up. I suppose it’s not their fault, and they tried to keep us happy, but there just aren’t enough workers during rush times.

The selection of bottled beers is one of the best in Tallahassee - hundreds. The tap selection is pretty good as well - I didn’t count but it’s gotta be 30-50 beers on tap. Everyone seems to say they never change, though, which is annoying. I’ve only gone there once and probably won’t go back, so I can’t say.

The value was... slightly above average, honestly. My $4 pints of Sweetwater beers were hard to stomach when I could be getting them cheaper elsewhere in town... and 8 bucks for a bomber of Abita? That’s a stretch.

Overall, a neat little place that’s great to visit once, or as much as you need to so you can try whatever beers they have that you can’t get elsewhere. The smoke really kills it, and you won’t be able to smell your beer or truly taste it either.

Formerly the only place to get a decent draft on tap in Tallahassee, a few other establishments have opened recently that are nicer and, cough cough, less smoky than this dive. 40 taps, but very little if any rotation. Mostly imports rather than micros fill out the list. Plenty of bottles. Agreed that once you’ve made it through the list, there’s little reason to return.

Leon Pub has the best beer selection in Tallahassee. They don’t rotate that selection though... and the service is iffy to bad... and it’s the smokiest place on earth... I’ve lived in tally for a while now and have had everything on their fairly extensive (but stagnant) beer menu. It’s rarely worth it to go anymore. If you’re visiting and don’t mind smoke, it’s all we’ve got.

Leon Pub is a dive bar....with 200+ beers available. Normally, places this dank would serve only pabst, millwaukee’s best, or strohs (the owners favorite beer). So its quite suprising to see a beer menu that takes about a half hour to read. The jukebox is firmly locked into the late 70’s, but at least you’ll be safe from hearing Justin Timberlake. The parking woes have eased a bit since the Dunken Donuts closed.

This place is a serious hermit crab hole. No food. Cash only. Smokey. It’s half of a former convenience store. There’s a half-dozen old ’Cudas up on blocks in the primary parking spaces. Which is too bad, because the neighboring businesses will tow you to Hanoi if they catch you in their slots. That said, its THE place in Tallahassee to get every brew that the local distributors are carrying. I go there once a year, whether I need to or not.

This is the only place to go in Tallahassee if you are a (somewhat) serious beer drinker. You will hear the same David Bowie songs on the jukebox, see only one bartender with, perhaps, a cute girl cleaning up the glasses. However, you will also find find a very nice (200-ish) selection of bottles and, I suppose, about 30-40 beers on tap.

I used to go to The Leon a few times a week when I was in Tally. It’s been years. What PorterPounder mentioned about towing....VERY TRUE. They got me once. Then they got me again another time when I parked at a nearby Dunkin Donuts. Tiny as mentioned, but it has immense character and a great selection. It sounds like the selection has actually grown from when I was there, but that is only a good thing.

The Leon Pub is half of a converted convenience store that splits the other half (and its tiny parking lot) with a used car dealer - so it is quite small - but do not let that deter you. They have at last count 42 beers and ciders on tap - everything form PBR to Fuller’s London Porter to Corsendock. They have bottled beer from at least 30 countries with a decent selection of beers from Belgium, Germany, England and assorted other countries. They also have a decent selection of wine - but no liquor. Prices are reasonable - average about $3.00 a bottle or pint for tap beers. Cash only and no tabs - pay as you go! One of the only places in Tallahassee that still allows smoking because of the new law - so it does get rather smoky. Also - pay attention to the signs on the door indicating where it is safe to park - they will tow! The staff (usually one bartender) are fairly knowledgeable of beer - not in a beer-geek kind of way - but they know what they are talking about. One day a girl came in and asked for a Corona with a lime; and the female bartender promptly and curtly replied - we don’t carry beer with fruit in it. Also - no Miller or AB products - but they do have Coors Light for some reason. Give it a try if you are in the area - the best way to find it - look for the Dunkin Donuts on Monroe Street (US 27) and it is right behind there.
