| TampaBrew (15), Tampa, Florida | | May 31, 2009 The actually door to the "good beer" section is locked, so you have to go through the drive through section and ask to go next door. Staff is usually, friendly. They refill CO2 here as well. The selection is decent, they keep some things in stock and get some new releases. The belgian section is slowly dwindling. A lot of the beer in that section has been there for years. SO if you are looking for a mid 2000s gueuze, you’ll probably find it here. Not a bad place, needs some upkeep. The Beer Cave is always a mess. Prices aren’t terrible on most things. Overall a good shop to get some american micros. | | kiefdog (101), Tampa, Florida | | July 7, 2008 Visited on a recent Saturday afternoon. We stopped shopping at this store about a year ago because of the exorbitant prices on some of the beer. But, we decided to give them another chance, and I am glad that we did. As dalepryor mentioned, the door to Yeti’s Beer Cave was locked, so we had to traverse through the drive-thru to locate an attendant. He asked us to use the employee’s entrance at the back of the beer cave. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of bottles here and many Belgians that we have not seen anywhere else (and these are what we hunt for). Even found a few Rocheforts on the shelf, although not the 10 (which all have become very hard to find in the area). Some of the bottles appeared very dated, but given the temperature at which they store the beer (it is pretty chilly in there) they probably have aged well. We found the prices to be more in-line with the local competition on this trip, so perhaps we will start visiting more frequently again. If you are in Tampa and want to find some great beer, make sure to stop by this place. | | dalepryor (16), Paducah, Kentucky | | May 20, 2008 i went here the other day before going to dinner with the girlfriends relatives, made an out of the way trip to go check it out. after getting there i felt a little lost, the front door was locked and there is this huge drive thru and no employees in site, so i wondered back and forth a few times wondering how to get into the room with all of the beers. i knocked on a few doors and this guy came out, he seemed a little out there but pointed me in the right direction, as i entered the store i was pretty excited, i had read reviews about this place and the selection. So just as i imagined the place was amazing, so many bottles of everything you could imagine and more, most of them i had never seen or heard of and then the usual selection you see other places, so i walked back and forth and studied what was before me, and i was amazed. I wanted to purchase everything i saw that i had never seen but i was limited so i finally picked up a couple bottles and made my way out. I would love to go back and look some more, this place has so many foreign beers it’s crazy. i would say 75% of their stock is imports which is pretty damn impressive. If you live in the tampa bay area and you have not been here or if you live in FL and are looking for a variety that is not likely to be on shelves near you go here it will be well worth the trip. | | BeerFanDan17 (22), Land O Lakes, Florida | | May 5, 2008 Incredible selection, but a bit pricey. Must be pushing 1000 varieties of beer. There are brands and style I’ve never heard of here and I’m rather savvy. Micros, crafts, Belgians they must have a heck of a distributor. I didn’t even know where to start. | MacAnUltaigh (4), Tampa, Florida does not count - explanation | | April 21, 2008 OMG lots of beers. Fresh, cold stouts a plenty. The only thing better than a disgustingly large selection of beer delivered through your car window would be if they opened it for you. And I’m sure they would if you gave them a big enough tip. Wicked good drive through beer and cigar store. Also, the Cigar Castle attached to the building is the only place in Tampa that I have been able to find my favorite cigar for the past 2 years. | donna792001 (2), tampa, Florida does not count - explanation | | March 24, 2008 This Store is a beer lovers paradise! there are over 800 different kinds of beer. domestics, imports, and micro brews, not to mention a really good selection of mead and wine. the drive thru is just too cool but the store they call yetis cave is where the good stuff is. Fully climate controlled. the first time i walked in there i was in shock. since then this is the only place i will go for imports ande micro brews. there is a great selection of belgian beers including trappist ales that i couldnt find anywhere else. It is a real treat. the service is great too. very knolegable crew. and they even have a cigar shop. how cool is that!!
deffinately check it out | | DragonStout (73), Pataskala, Ohio | | December 9, 2007 Stopped here when DeGarth was running the place and the selection was top notch.I was here before and there ws nothing to talk about.I hope, now that Degarth is gone they don’t go back to their old ways | pgnym07 (1), does not count - explanation | | October 25, 2007 Great place with Tons of great beer. This place has earned my devotion on several occasions but most recently they acknowledged that Im in the store a bunch and gave me some glasses for free.
In addition there are always happy to shoot the breeze and talk about beer or really anything going around. If it were closer I’d go to this place for everything.
| | BigMilly8 (22), Holiday, Florida | | September 29, 2007 Very nice selection and i love the climate controlled "cave" with the stalagmites. Great craft selcetion and imports. They have a lot of sample packs aswell. Lady working there that morning was very nice, not the most knowledgable, but very nice. Pretty nice little store, i will definitley be back. | | gunhaver (13), Tampa, Florida | | August 5, 2007 Ignore the drive-thru, unless you’re in a hurry. The real magic is in the little shop next to the drive-thru. Easily my favorite destination in the Bay area for quality beer (and beer talk). RateBeer user Degarth is king of this castle and is always willing to help out or just shoot the breeze. The Belgian selection is the best in the area, and the English selection is rather large. And of course a large American micro feel; expect to find all of the mainstays from DFH, Rogue, Avery, etc. Prices aren’t always easily accessible, however, and while the prices aren’t any cheaper than Total Wine or the like, they’re more than reasonable. Highly recommend. |
