07.10.2009, This pub seems to be located in an old boathouse or something. The place was crowded with happy people drinking Paulaner Oktoberfest bier! The selection seems to be very good. They should make a beer list,It is not easy to get an idea of their selection. The girl behaind the bar was very helpful and showed me some bottles.

First, watch out the low ceiling if your taller than 170 cm. A place that has in practice always a Nøgne Ø beer on draught cannot be completely bad. Bottle selection is good - rarer Nøgne Ø and Haandbryggeriet beers and also beers from Inderøy Gårdsbryggeri were available. Staff was friendly and seemed to know at least something about the beers they sold. Prices were quite high even in Norwegian standards. Definately worth a visit it you happen to be in Trondheim.

Has got an extraordinary beautiful location down by the river in a picturesque part of Trondheim. Must be a very, very nice outdoor seating in the summertime. I was almost completely satisfied with most everything during a visit in March 09. They had a good range of bottled beers, including some rare ones from Norwegian micros; Inderøy and Ølve, just to mention a few of them. Bottles from Mikkeller and Nøgne Ø were also available. The service was excellent, and the guys behind the counter were eager to talk about selling and keeping beers. My burger tasted good, though I get them a bit better at my local, Blå Rock Café, in Tromsø. Nice atmosphere for drinking beer and meeting friendly people. The best beer related pub I have been to in Norway so far. But a written and updated beer menu would have been appreciated (visited 12.03.2009).

Way above the competition, a must stop if you are in Trondheim. Good selection of domestic micros as well as a fine range of imports. The staff needs a bit more training, though. A great location, too, their barge on the river should be just the place on a hot day. Update: This is getting better with every visit. The landlord is working on the logistics of getting English cask ale, right now they qre offering q rotqting selection of Nøgne ø cask ales, one might be on if you are lucky!

The pub is located in a old storage by the river. If you feel that the floor isn’t straight, that may not mean that you have had too much to drink, because the building is old and charming. It’s decorated with a selection of ’antiques’, but at least the stuff is genuine and mostly local. In the summer, there is a barge on the river, with a foot-bridge from the pub, and the location on the river makes it attractive on hot summer days. They currently carry around 130 beer types, of which about 15 are on tap, including a pair of hand pumps which are quite rare in Norway. They carry some beers that are difficult to get elsewhere. The pub used to be a lot smaller, but expanded and lost some of its intimacy in the process - so it is not strictly a local pub anymore, despite the name (The Good Neighbor). It may be packed and noisy late on Wednesday through Saturday. There sometimes is live music, and there are two jukeboxes. The food is ok, but note that they share their kitchen with the classy restaurants in the same building, so some courses (in particular the fish) are excellent, while other courses (like the pizza) are ok but rather uneventful. The knowledge of the bar tenders vary from very good and downwards. They try to have proper glassware, but often run out, as the more popular glasses are apparently stolen. (Full disclosure: I’m a local).
