3 reviews for McKean and Charles
| ShaneMacGowan (11), Maine | | November 9, 2009 This is one of the better Midcoast beer stops. Selection seems to vary quite a bit. If you catch it at the right time it is excellent while at other times it seems mediocre. Prices are a bit on the high side but not savagely so. They also carry wine, a limited but fairly well selected collection of liquor, cigars and they have a small deli section. | | Bungalo22 (22), Bridgeport, Connecticut | | June 25, 2008 Wow, was I happy to find this place. Outside of local micos (which are great) it is hard to find a good craft beer place around here. They had a great mix from around the world and even the opportunity to purchase many beers as singles for a very good price. they also have a great cigar and cheese selection. Worth going back to. | | porterhouse (46), Alna, Maine | | November 11, 2006 [ Updated October 21, 2008 ] A wine connoisseur and gourmet shop in a pretty unlikely location - right on Route 1 in Waldoboro. Nice store - I’ve only been once and was searching for some pretty specific stuff which they didn’t have (some beers and a local mead) but a decent selection of beer, esp. Belgians, was on hand. Clean, friendly - worth checking out. They had 2-3 Schlenkerlas. Amazing how that stuff is so available in ME now - it’s everywhere! UPDATE (10/21/08) Wow McKean and Charles has moved up at least a notch or two for the beer geek. They’ve enlarged their beer area which means a bigger selection and they offer 15% off singles in a mixed 6-pack! The guy I talked to seemed very knowledgable and on top of his beer |
