10 reviews for Regional Wines & Spirits
| EastCoaster (10), , | | July 29, 2009 Many Craft beer available local to New Zealand. Also many exports that I had only read about I was able to try for the first time. Coming from Canada I was happy to see besides Labatt Blue available there was also Blanche de Chambly from Unibroue.
Can’t go wrong when they have a mosiac of Michael Jackson created in burnt toast! | | DuffMan (96), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta | | May 23, 2009 Best beer stop in th country so far. Pretty much every craft brewer has a product or two (or ten!) on offer here. I found 3 breweries that I hadn’t come across in bottles yet, and I found a few hard-to-get gems as well (Three Boys Wild Plum, Twisted Hop Enigma, Epic Mayhem). Some quality belgian ales as well. Lots of nice glassware. The staff who helped me really knew their stuff and bent over backward to help me out. If you have the time, this place is well worth seeking out. | | nate2g (151), Brisbane, Australia | | March 24, 2009 A great beerstore with a decent range of NZ micros as well as plenty of internationals. There is 11 different taps available to come and fill up your PET’s. A great setup going here, and the guys were more than happy to let me sample a few of the brews. Sweet as! | donfardz64 (3), Wellington, New Zealand does not count - explanation | | December 10, 2008 [ Updated February 6, 2009 ] Amazing beer selection. Some say best in NZ. Amazing glassware selection too. Taps for fill your own have incredible beers, Emersons pilsner and bookbinder are always availiable, and one or two of the taps change frequently. Emersons Brewers Reserve every month makes for an exciting visit. They even run beer tastings and tasting competitions. Staff are very friendly and helpful. They get to know you after a while. Discount on all beers for SOBA members too. Oh yeah, theres wines and spirits there too... | | TheGrandMaster (77), Auckland, New Zealand | | January 6, 2008 I haven’t come across a better bottle store in NZ, and gave them my patronage on several occassions when down in Wellington over the past two weeks. A brilliant selection of NZ and foreign beers, and the staff are really friendly as well. You Wellingtonians have all the luck. | kempicus (5), Wellington, New Zealand does not count - explanation | | December 16, 2007 A Great beer store made even better by the ability to order online! | pickled (2), , New Zealand does not count - explanation | | September 23, 2007 A great shop for booze hounds. Regional support micro breweries and often have treats on tap - last week I managed to get some Epic Mayhem which was selling fast due only to WOM since it was under a blank tap and not on the price list. Shelf space is an issue though - they don’t have their whole imported range in the fridge but all the NZ brews are. I haven’t found a larger range anywhere else in NZ or Australia though occasionally other retailers do have beers that regional do not have. | | Stew41 (71), Caulfield, Australia | | December 14, 2006 One of those very few stores that does a very good job of both wine and beer. I gather this is the leading retailer of craft beer in the Wellington region at it shows. The range probably spans ~50 true micros and most of the big guns are stocked – Emersons, Martinborough, Tuatara, Moa, Harringtons etc. Ok range of imports as well, including a few Cantillons, De Dolle, Saison DuPont , Boon etc (inc gear I’ve never seen in Australia). Only beef is that nearly all NZ beers are chilled – not great if one wants to bring some beers home. Good range of high end single malts as well.
| roboequator (2), Wellington, New Zealand does not count - explanation | | December 5, 2006 Fantastic Beer and Wine selection, probably best in New Zealand. Friendly staff with good knowledge of stock. | yalnikim (6), Wellington, New Zealand does not count - explanation | | May 28, 2006 One of the best bottle stores you’ll ever come across. |
