| nickd717 (22), Palo Alto, California | | September 2, 2009 Awesomeness. This is one of the better beer stores I’ve ever set foot in. Hell of a selection, stuff I didn’t even know you could find in NC. Three good beers on tap (when I was there, Duck-Rabbit Doppelbock, DFH Immort Ale, and Anchor Liberty Ale). Hundreds and hundreds of good bottles, including some vintage stuff. Prices are very reasonable given the quality. Atmosphere is pretty cool and log cabin like. Met a few fellow Beer Advocates there. This is THE place to pick up beer in the area, make no mistake. | Beambrew (2), , North Carolina does not count - explanation | | August 17, 2009 Exceptional supply of homebrew supplies and the staff is very helpful in fine tuning your brew. | | dkachur (114), Charlottesville, Virginia | | March 6, 2009 Located very close to Foothills (about 4 or 5 blocks) so walking between the two is easy. Parking in the back. The owner was there and was nice and helpful, but the beer guy was not. The place probably has more beer than wine, with a ton of American, German, English, Belgian and a smattering of other countries. Very wide ranging selection. About 6 coolers of chilled beer along with an entire good sized room of nonchilled. There is no problem with pulling singles. They are, however, very, very expensive. Except for the sales. They had a list of about 15-20 cases of beer on deep discounts. Some were out of stock, including the Allaghash Grand Cru for $25 a case (!!!!) but there were a lot of good deals. Overall worth a stop, but if possible due to the prices, try to make it your last stop. | | adavis234 (10), Columbia, South Carolina | | January 22, 2009 I lived in Winston for 4 years and loved this store. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable and the selection was incredible. Even if the store did not carry the beer you wanted, they would order it for you and charge no extra for it (besides the shipping cost). Being able to sip one of a few selected beers on tap while browsing made the experience even better. | | freekyp (28), Thomasville, North Carolina | | September 26, 2008 [ Updated December 27, 2008 ] Amazing selection from around the world. Has lots of limited editions and seasonals. A bit overprices, but you won’t find more obscure stuff in one place in NC than here. These guys host the local home brew club and are very beer knowledgebale. Have a mini pub on premises with an ever changing small but quality tap selection. They also regularly conduct tastings. A mecca in an otherwise mediocre market. | | Capa (80), Yokosuka, Japan | | August 17, 2008 Stopped here on my road trip south and I’m glad I did. Large micro and import selection including many ciders. Well organized, and knowledgeable employees made my search for good local beers a breeze. I only bought a case of new stuff but would have tripled that amount if I weren’t strapped for time. I’ll make this stop again next time I pass through Winston-Salem. | | Butters (150), Virginia | | August 10, 2008 This place rocks! I have been trying to stop here for over a year and my travel plans just never worked out. I’m so happy that my last business trip afforded me the opportunity. Hands down the most beers I have ever seen in one place. This store has it all, both quality and quantity. I’ve been in many a wine store that has a selection of beer, but never a store that FOCUSES on beer and has some wine on the side! It is a bit pricey, but I cannot wait to return. | | biznizness (21), Mooresville, North Carolina | | August 8, 2008 As far as I can tell, this is far and away the best selection in Winston. Yes, the prices are a little high, but not outrageously so. Very friendly service and, as mentioned, the beers on tap are awesome. Definitely a must in Winston. | | NYHarvey (124), New York, New York | | February 22, 2008 Very nice selection. A little pricey for NC, but still affordable by Florida standards. Picked up a lot of eclectic stuff and they still had Duck Rabbit Barley-wine and Scotch ale when no one else did. Stuff was sort of all over the place, but I like that. Browsing about for gems is part of the fun of beer shopping for me. I’d say it’s a definite must stop if in the area. | | decaturstevo (59), decatur, Tennessee | | February 4, 2008 Nice place nice selection. A tap room what about that. I wish I had had time to drink one. Beer was seperated out by styles I think which made it difficult to track down Duck Rabbit beers and others, but they were more than willing to help you find what you wanted. They had homebrew supplies in the corner by the cooler too. Pretty nice place just a little on the pricey side. |
