| sebletitje (78), Tampa, Florida | | July 26, 2009 Went to the place several times. First time reviewing it.
What a lot of good the new abv law in AL has done to this place.
They do have an amazing selection of draft beers and bottles, all fairly priced and not much of an atmosphere to speak of.
I would definitely stay away from the food. For a place that wants to do good beers, they should serve dishes that are not just microwavable.
Outstanding service and definitely one bar to visit in AL. | | JonnyC22 (10), Huntsville, Alabama | | June 15, 2009 Now that Alabama can get good beer, and I live in a town where people can’t get enough, The Nook is a solid bet. The only time I’ve been there I was treated to happy hour service with an Orval and a taste of what’s to come...what was missing in our state. Great bar. | | Kevster (36), Bradenton, Florida | | May 31, 2009 From my 04/25/09 early evening visit.: To start with the service was good and the bar is very clean. However, I didn’t like the decor since it wasn’t a pub feel to me. I’m use to pubs with the brick/wood decor and vintage beer signs, etc. The tables felt like you were more at a restaurant than a pub and also there were too many mirrors and lousy lounge music. It was a slow evening so I guess I was paying too much attention to detail. Now to the beer....excellent selection with approx. 20 taps and 150 bottles including support for the local brewery (Old Towne). If your in the Huntsville area this is a must visit since their selection will only improve since the "Free the Hops" law just passed. | ckatech (2), Montgomery, Alabama does not count - explanation | | May 24, 2009 The place is great, AL just passed a 13.9% alcohol content limit for beers, so their selection is about to get astronomically larger. | | BeerHawk (39), Huntsville, Alabama | | February 18, 2009 For a state with such jacked up beer laws, this place has got it going on. It’s very impressive to see such a large selection of under 6% beer. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. One of the things I notice right away way that this place was not only smoke free, but also fresh smelling for a bar which made rating all the more easier. They run some sort of specials on Monday nights whether it’s a featured brewery or a special beer on tap and usually host Free the Hops gatherings about once a month. It’s just one of those places that you have a good feeling hanging out at. | Bprice (1), Huntsville, Alabama does not count - explanation | | June 2, 2008 Discovered this place Saturday night. Selection and service was outstanding. My friends and I enjoyed the experience so much, we are going to make it a weekly event. | belayman (1), does not count - explanation | | January 7, 2008 Simply the best beer selection in Huntsville - probably north Alabama. I actually like the gumbo and chips/dip, so I think the food is good too. If you like beer, the Nook is for you. | DoNoEvil (1), Alabama does not count - explanation | | January 6, 2008 Their beer selection is exceptional for the limited number of beers that are allowed to be sold in Alabama.
Service was always quick & friendly. Glasses of draft always full to the brim.
They have a list at the bar of the beers they DON’T have... BudMillerCoors.
| qwacker2 (1), does not count - explanation | | January 5, 2008 All the local beer snobs and rednecks know this is the place for beer in Huntsville - no frosted glasses here. Almost all beer available locally will be found here - on tap or bottles - even served at the right temp. Pub feel makes the name appropriate. | | RichJ7 (14), Cullman, Alabama | | January 5, 2008 Very good beer selection and improving almost daily. The owner is serious about beer and beer culture, even including ratings on the beer menu. Proper glassware, great friendly staff and just a comfortable place to hang out. Haven’t tried the food yet, but have heard good things. |
