thorongil2 (2), , Ontario does not count - explanation | | November 27, 2009 quite decent, large and crowded even in off season, had 10 own beers available when I visited | | yemenmocha (61), Glendale, Arizona | | April 17, 2009 Overall solid choice for food & beer in Anchorage, though other locations will have better quality & selection of beers.
Glacier’s atmosphere is typical modern brewpup. Nothing fancy. Adequate seating, but still not enough to keep up with demand. Customers are white collar tourists and locals, unlike the riff-raff that you’ll encounter at Humpy’s.
Service was very good. Employees are trained well and prompt, courteous, professional.
Food was above average and priced above average.
Beers were rather mediocre, but looking at the whole package I didn’t mind that this place only had 1-2 beers that liked from the range. | | mabel (134), Toronto, Ontario | | April 10, 2009 Visited on a Saturday afternoon back in September, this great lodge atmosphere has a fireplace of metal antlers and stone walls creating a cozy warm welcome. Friendly staff, fun music and yummy Hearty Alaskan Clam Chowder and Brewhouse Fish & Chips (amber ale battered fresh Alaskan halibut) wrapped up the experience. 7 of their own brews were available and all were tasty, but the cask IPA was especially good. Definitely worth visiting. | | Aggy360 (10), Anchorage/ Vista,CA, Alaska | | April 4, 2009 A high-end place. The food was good but over priced and the beer was okay. There are other resturants with better parking, service, and beer for half the price. Not a bad place overall. It is too pricey for me, appitizer, two meals and drinks were well over $150. | | savnac (57), Palmer, Alaska | | February 27, 2009 A higher end restaurant for Alaska in the heart of downtown Anchorage. Gets very crowded in the evenings and especially during tourist season, and parking is very hard to come by. The food is usually great, although we have had the occasional bad meal. The beer is great, the core beers are always consistent and they have a wide variety of seasonal beers that are usually very good. | | jerc (141), Toronto, Ontario | | September 9, 2008 Very nice lodge like feel, we sat next to a giant fireplace that was pleasantly warming. We got there just before they opened at 11 and it got busy fast. Staff was friendly and made some suggestions about food. We enjoyed some ridiculously fantastic and rich seafood chowder, solid halibut fish and chips (the fish was fresh and recommended by the server over the regular rockfish). Sample of the beer, cask IPA was excellent and better than the just pretty good draught IPA. The beers were all decent but only the cask really stood out as great. Food alone was worth the visit though. Yumm! More please! | | CMUBEERMAN (49), Madison, Wisconsin | | August 27, 2008 Nice place to eat and get a beer. Only tried two...a cask ipa that was much than average brewpub fare and a imperial blonde ale that was a bit hot and a little tasteless. They did have about another 6 beers on tap. Staff was friendly and the server seemed to know about their beers. Food was also better than average for a brew pub. And also, for the folks that are complaining about price...get over it. | | josarah (68), Hinesburg, Vermont | | August 11, 2008 Great place, yes everything is a little expensive, but what in Alaska isn’t. This place is huge and at lunch there were lines at noon. The food we had was very good ( I really liked the prime rib quesadia). The service was very good and so were the beers. Highly recomend this place. | | BlackDonald (59), Boise, Idaho | | July 31, 2008 The only time to come here is during the twelve days of barleywine, otherwise get on their e-mail list when a new seasonal or barrel aged selection comes out. I avoid this place like the plague in the summertime, it is tourist central and impossible to find parking. Their food is way overpriced for the quality and the beers are just so so, but the seasonals and barrel aged selections are outstanding. | gator2683 (7), Anchorage, Alaska does not count - explanation | | January 21, 2008 A great place to go for a good (expensive) meal and decent beer. Make reservations if you plan to go on a weekend, especially in summer |
