9 reviews for Sleeping Lady Brewing Company
| mabel (134), Toronto, Ontario | | April 10, 2009 Visited on a Saturday afternoon back in September, this country music playin’ bar boasted over 80 bottles (which included some Rochefort, Drie Fontenin, Nogne and Avery brews) plus 10 of their own fair ones on tap and a root beer. Open concept and lots of tables and wooden chairs are surrounded by windows overlooking the huge patio. Service was friendly and left us alone to try all the beers but answered our questions when asked. We didn’t try the food but did sit there for a couple of hours, enjoying the clear elevated view of Mount McKinley over 250km away in Denali Park, apparently something of an anomaly in the usual cloudy weather patterns. Wonderful place to hang out for an afternoon. | | savnac (57), Palmer, Alaska | | February 27, 2009 Years ago this place was great. Since then the beer, food, and service have become very inconsistent. They do have one of the best decks in Anchorage and on a nice sunny summer day it’s great. But I have become skidish of what I order. I hope they bring this place back to what it was. | | jerc (142), Toronto, Ontario | | September 9, 2008 Atmosphere on the inside is decent, view on the outside patio is pretty awesome. Service was friendly, though one girl seemed a bit beyond her depth. Did the sampler, did not eat. Was surprised by the long menu of Belgian bottle options. Most of the beer was pretty average at best, a few showed more promise but most were just okay. Enjoyed it, but would recommend hitting Glacier and Mooses Tooth first if you are tight on time. | | yemenmocha (63), Glendale, Arizona | | August 11, 2008 If you’re ready for some of the worst service of your visit in Anchorage, then this is your place.
Horrible service, nice view, great imported selection of belgian beers, mediocre house brews, and overpriced food.
Ugly exterior leads to a modern brewpub feel on the inside, and the upstairs pub is just as nice as the downstairs.
Food quality was good, but very pricey, even by downtown Anchorage standards.
Service was atrocious. Too many young kids working as servers & hostesses. Not established servers here with prompt, courteous service. Yeah it’s great the server is a novice beer nerd but if he can’t fill my wife’s water and bring my beer in a timely manner then I don’t care. Our appetizer came out after our entree, with no apology or mention of it by the server.
Selection of Belgians and miscellaneous bottles is one of the best in Anchorage. Unlike the food, the beer is reasonably priced.
Their own beers are mediocre. Oatmeal stout isn’t bad, but the rest are not worth the effort from your liver.
Come here to drink and eat lightly. Full dinner will cost you an arm and a leg. | | BlackDonald (59), Boise, Idaho | | February 11, 2008 [ Updated April 7, 2008 ] I am disappointed to see some of the past ratings. I encourage everyone to visit here, except for Mondays, because they are closed. They have a new brewer now in Clay, who is young and eager and really into eclectic styles and re-vitalizing historical styles. English Braggot anyone? The food is also eclectic for anyone that is not used to regional Alaskan cuisine. Musk Ox?
Highly recommended, a little pricey but tasty. | | Braudog (478), Dayton, Ohio | | July 17, 2005 7/6/05: Big place with lots of room. Didn’t eat here, but tried every beer they had, which were almost universally disappointing. The deck is one of the better places to sit when the weather’s nice, but for beer nerds, I put in this at the bottom of the priority list. | | aracauna (42), Georgia | | June 26, 2005 Huge building. It’s actually four floors if you count the roof dining areas as floors. Large selection, about 10 different beers, plus an excellent, Belgian-heavy selection of guest brews in bottles. The food was good, but the beer was slightly disappointing after visiting Moose’s Tooth two separate times. Nice place though and worth a stop. | | PorterPounder (180), Tallahassee, Florida | | September 21, 2004 Nice downtown brewpub and restaurant (the restaurant is actually called Snow Goose). The upstairs bar has a view to die for of the Cook Inlet and mountains. Have a mainstay of seven beers and a few rotating seasonals and specialities. All were above average. Full menue including seafood - I just had a cheesburger which was very good. They have growlers to go for those inclined and the staff is friendly, young and energetic. A definite stop if in the Anchorage area. |
