| hollypocket (10), Arizona | | July 1, 2009 great selection! not many places like this! | Doon (6), Phoenix, Arizona does not count - explanation | | May 29, 2009 Papago Brewing is an ’oasis’ of beer here in the Valley. I’m not a regular, but I do go every 2 months or so. 30 or so rotating taps, and a beer cooler with an incredible selection. The prices are also VERY reasonable and cheaper than most liquor/grocery stores. The staff is ultra friendly and knowledgeable. The food is pretty good too! My only complaint is the music... Every time I’m in there they have it cranked to the point that conversation is difficult without yelling....even when the place is empty... | | hopeye101 (11), Draughthouse, Texas | | February 13, 2009 While in Phoenix for a week on business , I got the opportunity to check out a few good beer bars. I was definitely looking forward to trying Papago since I heard so much about it.
The bar does not have much curb appeal. It is tucked away in a ugly Pink plaza (Papago Plaza). I drove by it twice before I found it.
The place is about 1200 square feet with a nice size bar and a wall of fridges filled with beer. You can get some good stuff, they sell singles and you can mix a sixer or grab a beer and have the bartender open it. They have a solid selection in the fridge. Good cali and Colo selection. Lots of Belgians.
They have 30 taps with about 4 or 5 used by their local homebrews (although they don’t brew on premises). Not impressed with their homebrews. I mainly stuck to the micros on draft.
I went here 2 nights and both nights I sat at the bar. The patrons were really friendly. So was the barstaff. The bartenders knew a lot about beer. They always knew the ABV’s and gave pretty solid recom | BNSLY (5), Las Vegas, Nevada does not count - explanation | | January 29, 2009 Recently visited Scootsdale and found this place. I was quite surprised. They had a ton of beer in the cooler. Dogfish,Avery, Port, Ballast Point, etc. too many to list. They had 30 on tap. Great place to get some quality beer. The staff was very helpful and friendly. | bbourque1976 (4), Laveen, Arizona does not count - explanation | | December 31, 2008 Best beer selection in the valley. You can take out from the cooler and bring it home too. 30 taps, and just a load of fun. The Orange Blossom is quite good too!
Try the beer bites with the Chipolte Ranch. | | SuperDave70 (14), Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona | | August 15, 2008 What can I say that hasn’t been said already? 30+ taps, and not a BMC among ’em! Tons of bottles, which can be bought to go. A very solid pizza. Fast, knowledgable and friendly service. Proper glassware. This is THE place! | nnck (2), Chandler, Arizona does not count - explanation | | May 31, 2008 Simply put, if you are in AZ and love beer there is no other place to go. | | nbutler11 (61), Phoenix, Arizona | | May 28, 2008 [ Updated April 18, 2009 ] It’s hard to ask for more without sacrificing something - this place is just solid all-around. Excellent bar food, selection, service, and atmosphere for anyone looking to duck in from the heat and enjoy a few beers. Best tap list in Phoenix with killer appetizers and pizzas to boot. | rustychiles (4), Mesa, Arizona does not count - explanation | | February 18, 2008 Best beer bar in Arizona hands down. They have 30 tap handles that are constantly rotating with stuff that you just don’t see on tap other places. On top of that they update the list almost daily on their website so you know what they’re pouring. They also have a huge beer cooler wall where you can buy bottles to enjoy in the bar or to go. I’ve heard that there are close to 500 different bottles to choose from, but haven’t counted. They also offer growlers of their fantastic line of beers as well. As for the food, I had the Buffalo Chicken Pizza and it was fantastic. The wife had the Bruschetta which was just okay. But who’s really hear for the food anyways, the beer selection here is amazing. | | eaglefan538 (90), Wilmington, Delaware | | January 17, 2008 A nice stop if you’re headed out of the Sky Harbor airport and have a few hours to kill ahead of time. This place has roughly 30 taps always on draft, featuring 5 or so of their own alongside some pretty nice guest beers, all of very good quality (which definitely makes the Yard House’s 128 seem excessive). The service is average, although the help to get a box that was just right for travel home was appreciated. The food is decent, the atmosphere a little upscale sporty (including a cigar area, supposedly pretty good, but I wouldn’t know - has since been discontinued by city ordinance), and the pricing ok. | View Page : 1 2 3 4 5 6
