A beer Oasis in the industrial and commercial wasteland that is Fyshwick. Ordered the Schankbier straight away and loved it. Followed by the German Pilsener, nice as well. Ordered some wedges and what we received was not quite as expected, however it tasted alright. The food prices were very reasonable. A pity I couldn’t stay for lunch. Unfortunately Christoph was not around to discuss the brewery, and the staff seemed disinterested in that aspect of the operation. I was overcharged by the barman, who was adamant he was right. A little more attention to detail by the barman and manageress would be nice as well. They were busy but not flat out either, there is no excuse for treating customers that way in such a small operation. Recommended to any Canberra visitors!

Have been here several times and enjoyed the selection of german beers. Christophe had the menu set so it matched the beer brewed and is more then willing to make suggestions. On the first time there was given a tour. And it is the only bar in canberra to have the option of ordering a stein of beer.

Modern style brewpub where the brewery is visible from the restaurant. Christoph is extremely hospitable and allowed time out of his brewday to chat and walk me around the brewing equipment for a little tour. The beers were above average and enjoyed a beef stew to match with the German ales. A decent turnout of patrons on a Saturday lunchtime as well, which was is great to see the locals coming out and supporting the micro brewery. Great value and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Well worth a visit and as Mullet noted it’s close to the airport for at least a quick visit.

Clean factory unit set up as a bar/restaurant with a glass window looking into the brewery. place is friendly enough and certainly worth a visit even if a little sterile. Seven beers on tap worth trying, only had the wedges and the quesadillas and they were good. Should be plenty of parking.

Definitely recommend checking this place out. It’s only a ten minute taxi from the airport so made dropping by for a few cheeky beers on the way home very easy (compared to going into the city to the W&P). Anyway, it’s a clean, fairly sparsely-furnished single room which gives the sense that it’s a brewery with a bar tacked on rather than vice versa. Crowd seemed to be mostly folks who work in the area, which makes sense I guess. Anyway, they had seven beers on tap, several of which were very good (German Ale, Hopmeister, Porter) and only the Amber Ale (surprisingly) disappointed. Food menu looked good, but I didn’t eat. Fresh pretzels is a nice touch. Anyway the beers make it well worth the trip in their own right, but they are insanely cheap! $5 pints each night between 4-6pm, $6.50 (I think) otherwise. I can’t remember the last time I paid less than $8 for a pint. In most Australian cities this would be the best brewery in town.
