| JoeinUccle (138), Brussels, Belgium | | July 23, 2009 Old but hip and beery student bar that’s quieter in the early evening and more raucous in the wee hours. The list of beers is written on slats that occupy about half of one wall. Very few surprises on the list, considering its length, but enough quality to keep geeks interested. Service is usually at the bar, and there can be a line once it gets busy. Does get very smoky. Usually cool music. Worth the trip away from the center. Good prices. | CapedBrewsader (4), Brasschaat, Belgium does not count - explanation | | October 6, 2008 [ Updated March 31, 2009 ] This is an absolute gem of a place, but it is never included in travel guides. Is it really that unknown? It is not right in the center but it is worth the trek there. Located between the VUB and the ULB (the Dutch and French speaking universities of Brussels) there is an obvious college crowd. This place really heats up after 10pm. Can be a bit smokey and loud, but what great dive isn’t? The beer list is proudly displayed as a huge billboard on the wall. Good taps and a great bottle selection! Unless you don’t like people and are allergic to smoke, you have to make it out there. |
