good selection of beers, quick and good service. the interior is full of al kinds of mess, like beer publicity placard, iron thing, etc. always the proper glassware.

This place looks old and has a nice number of beers in their cellar and on tap. I had a St.Bernardus 8 from tap which was quite nice. They also had Stille Nacht and Bink Bloesem, the waiter looked like he knew alot about beer but only upon asking him. Ambiance pretty weak, very different crowd. Food I don’t know if they have any.

I went around lunch time on a Tuesday. Needless to say it wasn’t crowded. Even so, the waiter didn’t seem all that interested in serving me. Some of the decor is nice, like the church items over the bar, but some kitschy. There Dulle Griet beer on tap was nice.

On the main Square I wouldn’t have bothered with this one were it not for the fact that it was teeming down with rain. Fortunately visiting as I did in early December their were few tourists about, there is a decent choice of beers not sure about the claimed 250 though!, Barman seemed a bit of a miserable git, still it’s not bad. Had some food, just snacks cheese, salami, mustard spring rolls, chicken wings (there were four of us) this was ok.

Yes it’s on the square, the decorations are kitsch and it CAN be full of tourists, but go during the week and it’s a different bar. On a Mon/Tues/Wed/Thur evening the bar is full of locals/students and the waiters are not overburdened serving tourists. I’ve been several times during the week and the waiter will sit down at the table with you and talk about his favorite beers.

Rather oldfassioned bar, with good beers and a rather nice selection. But this bar is nothing really special; lots of tourists; and a less pleasant ambiance.

Tourist trap. Huge sign outside saying they have 250 BEERS AVAILABLE! Wow... I think I have that many in my fridge. Inside it’s dark, wooden, brown bar appearance and feeling, a little cramped. Littered with amatuers and tourists who are drawn in by the flashy sign and the Kwak/shoe gimmick. Really, there’s no reason to visit this place, their beer list is mediocre at best.

Old fashioned with a large collection of beer signs. The waiter knows about his beers, but is seen to seldom. No food available. This is the place you have to have a deposit of one of your shoes for a Kwak. The interior is also filled with hanged dolls. Well visited by tourists as well as locals.

Nice bar room. Decent beer list. The staff was rather unfriendly. Looks like they think they are the best beer bar of all the world, but they definitely aren’t.

Been here two times, it’s very, very touristy and very busy on a saturdaynight. Interior is nice, selection is good, but not the place to go for beerlovers in Gent, because of the huge amount of tourists in the weekend.
