| tiggmtl (117), Vancouver, British Columbia | | July 3, 2007 Full disclosure: this is my local... The ambiance is funky DIY meets rustic cabin with local artists’ work adorning the walls. Service is always friendly, engaging and knowledgeable (not to mention darned attractive). While the tap and bottle list is small, they do showcase some BC micros and they do have the weekly cask night to bring in beers they otherwise might not have. Food is delicious with good sized portions for the cost. | foodie1977 (2), , British Columbia does not count | | December 21, 2006 First time there in a while! Sat at the bar had Georgia serve me. She was very nice, funny, made me feel comfortable! There is new ownership and they have made some changes to the room. For the most part it is still cozy but cleaner! New bathrooms that dont smell anymore, upgraded kitchen so you dont smell anymore when you leave. Still carrying the two local brewers R and B and Storm along with montreals Blanche de Chambly and one import. They have also started a Cask Night for the real beer drinkers in the city. They have had some amazing brews from all over the lower mainland and vancouver island. Great job guys i used to be a regular and have not been back in a few years. Got a mail out introducing the Cask night and because i love beer I went to check it out.
My new sunday hangout! | | CapFlu (178), Victoria, British Columbia | | June 30, 2006 Terribly friendly, ’roid infused male staff and delightful female server. Rustic interior with unique, spot-welded ironwork gates and windows giving an artistic atmosphere. Thick wood 3x3 tables, conference room chairs and abstract artwork adorn the rooms. The high ceilings and ambiance remind me of La Réservoir in Montréal --- though the service here is much better. Waitress informs me that their kitchen is reknowned for their consistently good food. Veggie Burger ($8) and Perogies ($8) came recommened; but I was still full from Dix. If I lived in Vancouver this would be my local hang-out. | | JoeMcPhee (201), Jackson Heights, New York | | May 18, 2005 Cool little place in East Van. Two levels of seating and food is pretty good. Not a massive tap list, but pretty much everything they have is quality. | | Crit (114), New Westminster, British Columbia | | February 14, 2004 [ Updated September 18, 2008 ] Decent selection of some of the hard to get local beers.Food is ok, but the service is hit and miss. Have had beer gone bad on 2 occaisons now. Has had cleanliness problems lately, and apparently were shut down for a while. | | Oakes (323), Miami Beach, Florida | | January 3, 2004 [ Updated January 8, 2005 ] Good atmosphere in this small space in East Van. Apparently, there are some other good spots on Main as well but I haven’t checked them out yet. College music, funky decor. Brunch on weekends, otherwise it’s an evening place. Service was a little slow and failed the lemon test. |
