10 reviews for La Jolla Brew House Restaurant and Brewery
| Snojerk321 (42), San Diego, California | | December 7, 2009 Some random good stuff on tap, and a few gems from the house brewer. His beers to really seem to be hit or miss. Some really good bartenders, a few don’t know what the hell is going on..... | | JohnnyJ (29), Carlsbad, California | | August 20, 2009 Eeehh. They only had 3 beers on tap when I went. The IIPA was pretty good. Others are marginal. Pretty standard place, nothing to complain about, just not much there. Not a destination, but a nice place to stop by if you have time. | | Rastacouere (475), Montréal, Quebec | | June 30, 2009 While not that close to the beach, this brewpub feels like a surfer’s chalet with its all-wooden interior, giant TV screens and . It’s actually much larger than it seems from the outside. We ate on their small terrace outside, a place which did not seem to interest any of the dozen of other patrons. Even the terrace had an annoying 60 inches or so TV screen. The small part of the staff we’ve seen consisted pretty much of girls who might well be in next year’s swimsuite Sports Illustrated. The serice was still prompt and friendly considering we sat alone outside. Quite varied beer range, not so many of them (though adding the 8-10 tap guests gives a nice total), but interesting styles like a Belgian Brown are not that common in the area. Not a place I’d spend hours in, but it’s more or less between San Diego and Solana Beach, so stop in if your time is not too limited. | | hopdog (201), Lansdale, Pennsylvania | | December 9, 2008 Kinda of a hole in the wallish, sports bar feel to it. Looking at the web site and reading some other reviews, I was expecting for them to have between 5-8 house beers and half hoping for an IPA or IIPA. Guess what? I was severly let down. They only had 3 house beers on tap. At least 2 of the 3 were stronger beers and happen to be 2 beers that I missed out on at the Pizza Port Strong Ale Festival. Some guest beers on tap, but my beef is, if you call yourself a brewpub, have more than 3 house beers on tap...I mean really. Food was OK, nothing to write home about or really go back specifically for. | | Ibrew2or3 (161), Safety Harbor, Florida | | December 24, 2007 Fairly small worn in place with nice selection of satellite sports feed showing every NFL game being played this day. I was initially disappointed to see the IPA and the IIPA out. The few beers I tried were solid but not stellar. I enjoyed the Porter, Blond and the Red. Didn’t try the food. I plan to come back when the IPA and IIPA are on and I’m in town again. | | badlizard (67), Berkeley, California | | June 11, 2007 Ambiance was fine, but perhaps a little too much when busy (i.e. loud and too many TVs). I prefer quieter places. The beer was average, as was the service. The food was a little above average. A decent brewpub. | | GeneralGao (220), Iowa City, Iowa | | May 5, 2006 [ Updated December 4, 2006 ] Located near the center of La Jolla. Basically tucked into a small corner, though. Atmosphere was okay, but nothing to write home about. Beer was average for a brewpub. They had 5 on tap the day I was there. Didn’t eat. Service was fine. | | BeerLimey (76), California | | March 8, 2006 Bar is a nice atmosphere, lots of TV’s, good service and pretty good ribs. There was a weird looking empty back room that looked like it was about to turn into a night club. At the time I was there (summer 2005) they didn’t serve samplers but glad to see from another review that they do now. Tried 2 beers that were both decent. | | BückDich (215), McCall, Idaho | | March 6, 2006 Late night visit. Carded by the "bouncer". Loud music with a DJ and lots of hip-hop folk running around. Very divish feel to it, but they make beer here. Hmm. Nailed down a sampler of some average beer. No problems with the staff and didn’t order food. Perhaps I came at the wrong time to really enjoy this place from my perspective. Others might enjoy this more, but I think later on in the night, this ceases to be a brewpub and turns into a bar. | | beernoevil (27), Suwanee, Georgia | | July 3, 2005 Great atmosphere (we ate outside on the deck) located right in the heart of La Jolla. Lunch special appeared to be the right choice - beer and a burger for $6.50. The regular price for a beer is $4.00 and a burger is $7.00 so this was a no-brainer. The burgers looked awesome but neither were cooked very well. Black on the outside and rare in the middle (we ordered them "done".) I had their IPA and Red. Both tasted incredibly similar and were not particularly good. The best part about this place is that it’s right next door to a BevMo! |
