Visited this location while attending a conference and residing at the nearby Doubletree Hotel. I was looking for a place within walking distance to the hotel and found this. This brewpub has the character of a sports bar more-so than anything else. The few beers I sampled were very good. It appears that they have a head brewer who knows what he is doing. The staff was friendly and the service was great. As for food, I had a calzone, tasty and cheap. Overall: Nothing to go out of way for, but a decent choice if you are in the area.

Stopped by here after spending the day at Disneyland. Took me just over 5 minutes to get here - a major plus when you are tired and have 2 tired kids along with you. Inside was kinda of neat with the Golden Gate Bridge over the dinning room. The rocky booths were a little odd, from the outside, it looked like they were booths with drop cloths over them - I thought they were doing work on the place. Service was great and fast - then again there was only 2 other tables when we were there. Food was OK I only ordered a burger. Beers were all mediocre. They even ran out of their seasonal earlier in the day and didnt have anything to replace it with. They also mixed up my Wheat and Strawberry Wheat beers - trust me, I think I can pick out that Strawberry smell and taste. I could understand the mixup if they were anything resembling busy - I think all the workers where watching sports.

I guess I’m alone in really liking this place. I had read that some found their beers to be a bit watery but I have to disagree with what I drank. I tried the sampler and then had a couple more of the Blueberry Hefeweizen and the Weiss Guy Wheat. Granted, it wasn’t the best beer in the world, but I really enjoyed them and wanted to go back. The food that I had there was also pretty damn tasty.

Been here numerous times. The beers are well made, but rather unspectacular. The food is pretty good. Fish tacos and the chili are pretty excellent. Service is usually pretty good too. Also a cool scale model of the Golden Gate Bridge.

OC post SAF tour: Funny that I have to come to the Orange CA location to rate my first beer from them when I live in Indiana (FYI, neither place is nowhere near Alcatraz!). The place has a large replica of the Golden Gate bridge and other SF decor. The beer menu is so-so with the Annihilator Doppelbock is best. I ate the Fettuccini Jambalaya which was VERY SPICY. The location is within a outside walking mall area.

Very nicely decorated. Food was OK. Beer sampler tray was quite novel. But none of the beers thrileld me. We sat outside and watched the shoppers heading to the mall. That was very entertaining.

The atmosphere is great, but it doesn’t make up for the beer. The beer is standard, no fun beer. The one that my friend and I actually enjoyed above the rest was their berry wheat. The rest of the beer was just average. the food is decent, but don’t expect much. If you want good beer then hit up another chain like BJ’s.

Didn’t realize this was a chain when I checked it out, just explained why a place called alcatraz would be in Orange County. Decor is pretty novel with San Fran model replicas. Larege restaurant, pizzeria style layout. Spinach and mushrom thin crust pizza was excellent although the menu is not very extensive. Beers were average overall.
