RateBeer Brew Tour Guide's Comments
Located in the south of market area nearby the stadium, 21st Amendment packs a mix of 'bridge and tunnel' baseball fans and South Park hipsters. Fairly recently, the brewer started making more challenging and interesting brews after merely offering a better than average brew-by-numbers lineup (blonde, amber, IPA, porter, stout). The IPA will please Big Daddy fans and the Double IPA is definitely made for beer lovers. Check the Website for events like dinners or beer classes.

Nice place, lots of room. Decent selection, had 7 or 8 beers on tap. Good beers as well, but nothing that really stood out. Had a quick basket of fries before we left, very good. Pretty affordable as well, considering the location. Would go back again.

Pretty nice, open place with plenty of room. Good service, with a waitress that checked up on our beer needs often. I was quite disappointed in the selection though. They only had six beers on the menu, and one was a guest (Drake’s 1500) that was out anyway. Then another of their beers (Watermelon Wheat) was also out. When we first ordered beers, the waitress said they were getting another keg of it in twenty minutes (apparently its brewed elsewhere now that canning has expanded operations). Well, it never showed on in the next hour and a half. That leaves us with only four beers, no casks, and one of them on nitro (the dry stout). That’s about the worst selection that I’ve ever seen in a brewpub, and it wasn’t even very busy. The food was average brewpub stuff, and done alright, nothing to get excited about though still tasty. The beers that they did actually have available were all pretty average, except for the IPA, which is quite good. I’d order another pint of the Darkness (a dunkel) or the 563 stout, but the South Park Blond is rather bland. I wouldn’t make a point of coming to the area just to go here, but it’s prime location next to the ballpark makes it a good place to hit before a game, and the IPA definitely redeemed what would have been an otherwise disappointing visit. Oh, and don’t trust the phone recording telling you what beers are on tap only half of what they named was even on the menu card.

Was quite unimpressed with this place, in all honesty... It was particularly busy and we ended up getting seated and made to feel like we were being quite hurried to make our order, eat up and ship out. There weren’t that many 21A beers on tap and it wasn’t very obvious on the menu which ones were house and which were guest (that always annoys me!). Their beers were ok, not sure I get all the fuss, though. The food was overpriced and not all that good. Probably wouldn’t go back, but I did actually meet the brewers at the OBF and they were very nice chaps, so maybe I should give their place another try.

My best friend worked here and introduced me to it. Nice atmosphere, good basic brew pub food. Great beer, I drank a lot of the cask conditioned IPA and it was biblical. The only problem is that this place gets so busy during Giants games that they run out of beer sometimes. My wife loves the Watermelon wheat.

Visited 6/26/08. Nice spot, 3 blocks from AT&T Park so be sure to check for Giants games before you go. Street parking only, get your quarters ready! Close to the freeway. Not a huge place, probably 20 stools around the bar and a good number of tables up front and towards the back where the kitchen is. Capacity is 138. The service was good, didn’t have any food. 9 taps, 2 of them guest taps. Classic rock on the stereo. $5.50 for a pint of house brew.

Visited in February, but just getting around to rating this place. Very nice brewery. Definitely worth visiting. Decent food. I like Magnolia and Toronado better, but this place is still very cool.

April 2008 - Visited with our friends Chris and Meredith from thebeergeek.com who highly recommend it. We had good beers, good food and good service, which I guess is what’s all about. But after a long week that included some outstanding beer spots, this place just seemed good, not great. I’d go again, and I’d put this on a SF itinerary. (Brewery #463, 4/11/2008)

We walked all the way to to the Brew Pub from Union Square, about a 3 mile walk. It is very near the Giants’ Stadium the ATT Park. The ambiance was really nice, my wife loved it, and the service staff was really friendly. The selection limited to about 7 taps. Drank them all in samples.

Visited on a Thursday afternoon in January 2007. Really dug the atmosphere, high ceilings, lots of exposed wood and steelwork. Beer selection was a little minimal, did have a firkin of their IPA on gravity feed though. Had some early afternoon happy hour grub, not bad for the price.

Nice atmosphere with some big open spaces. They had a fairly small selection, but I did get to try Bear Republic’s Red Rocket Ale on tap, nice. Food was creative and well prapared. The waitress was a flighty douche with a bit of a I really don’t want to be here attitude, and the busboy seemed a bit in rush to get our table clear. So we proceded to get drunk, misbehave a bit, and tipped the minimum.
