| Brock_Landers (25), Panama City, Florida | | October 7, 2008 Love this place!....once I found it. Tucked away down in Seal Beach. Went here on a recommendation from a dude at Hollingshead. I owe him a few beers. Great tap selection (lotsa SoCal goodies). Food was terrific. This is a must visit when in the area. | | BMan1113VR (65), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California | | August 6, 2008 I went there for the first time today and I love this place. Quite on the weekdays for lunch. Sat at the bar were the 5 other people were all talking beer. I started of with Black Butte XX on tap. I then had a pulled pork sandwich which was pretty decent (bbq is a bit out of its enviornment in SoCal). Great 22 beers on tap + 1 cask (Oak aged Arrogant Bastard). Some tap notables were Bruery Humulus Brune, Stone 12, Curator, Black Butte XX, and Boon Marriage Parfait. Bottle list was amazing, HotD Fred from the wood (which I had), plus two bottles that I will keep hidden (hint: one is a 375mL from Lost Abbey, and the other is a very special bottle from Firestone). Will return. | posikyle (3), Alabama does not count | | August 1, 2008 Probably wouldn’t go back to. Heard about this place through an article in a local newspaper and went there on a sunday afternoon with my girlfriend. Well, for starters they had a clipboard for people to write down their names for a wait, but that seemed to only be a guideline, as the waitress seated us in front of about 3 other names at the bar. The place was very, very, over crowded, to the point that I was rubbing elbows with the person next to me and my girlfriend hardly had any room to eat. The food was good, but very overpriced (I paid $10 for a bbq pork sandwich and about 6 french fries). The beer selection was very good, but the bartender didn’t seem to know much about what was on tap (even misspelling the name of one of them on the chalkboard) and was actually a little surly. Really, the only high point of the night was the Hooter’s Girl competition that was on the tv.
Basically, this is a place to go if you just want to grab a beer or two with some buddies, but don’t expect much else. | | JohnC (77), Mission Viejo, California | | June 28, 2008 I finally made it up here and it was worth the drive! Good service. very good food and a great beer selection.
The beer was served at proper temp and used proper glassware. The wife had a Pliny the Elder. I had the Craftsman White Sage and a Grado Plato Chocarrubica (a pleasant surprise). There were 23 beers on tap here’s what I can remember
RR Pliny the Elder
Alesmith Grand Cru, Nautical Brown
Craftsman White Sage, Orange Grove
Lagunitas Maximus
Arrogant Bastard
Grado Plato Chocarrubica
New Belgium Erik’s
Drake’s 1500, Frankenwein
Bruery Saison Rue
Sierra Nevada Southern Hemisphere | sbybeerguy (5), California does not count | | April 3, 2008 what a find! a co-worker told be about the place and my wife and i were there last sunday. i had the smokehouse burger and she had the brisket sandwich. both...off the charts fantastic. the smoked asparagus was delicious. 20 great on tap offerings. started with a maharaja ipa from avery and finished with a stone russian imperial stout. both were fresh, served at correct temps and in appropriate glassware. wonderful. service was impeccable. the owner knows how to do the food/beer/service thing well. bravo!!! this will be a regular haunt for us..... | ironchefscott (4), long beach, California does not count | | March 24, 2008 this place has the best beer list in oc/la
good food
lots of beer geeks to share beers with and chat about beer.......fav place in so cal | | buck (11), Seal Beach, California | | January 27, 2008 I always thought that Father’s Office was the Pantheon of Beer/Food in SoCal. The Office Burger is admittedly unparalleled. 35 interesting beers on tap is also hard to beat. But Beachwood Barbecue is in the hunt for best beer bar in Southern California. With 22 taps of beer that even a veteran beer lover will be surpised and delighted by this has become a destination spot. Add some of the best barbecue that you ever had and this becomes a must visit. | BrewBakerE (1), Seal Beach, California does not count | | December 9, 2007 I absolutely love Beachwood BBQ. It’s my favorite beer spot hands down and the food is amazing. It recently doubled in size, and the taps went from 8 to 22 and also offers cask beer from time to time. you will find me there almost every nite. | | riversideAK (12), Shoreline, Washington | | November 15, 2007 [ Updated February 14, 2008 ] Food is amazing. Beer selection is one of the best around. Many beers that are rare to Southern California, and many beers that just arent on tap at any other places. Did I mention the food is amazing? A great place to go for lunch and than walk off the beer and food down Main St. | KAME (3), California does not count | | August 20, 2007 This place is great, and I frequent it regularly. The BBQ sandwiches are awesome, and the sweet potato fries are divine. The Blue Cheese grits might be a little too much for my palate, but I’ve enjoyed everything else that I’ve had there. The tap list is constantly changing, and Gabe finds a way to get some very rare-to-SoCal beers. He had Ommegeddon a week ago, and this last weekend he had Alesmith Wee Heavy and Lil Devil. They also have some fantastic desserts, however they aren’t on the menu yet. The bread pudding is highly recommended. I really can’t wait until his expansion is complete. | View Page : 1 2
