| BeerandBlues2 (157), Colorado Springs, Colorado | | August 26, 2009 Nice oasis sitting in sunny LA. The house beers are good and the food is decent, albeit a little pricey, but not by LA standards. I enjoyed seeing the brew tanks right behind the bar and the brewer/owner performing his craft. | | elihapa (62), Honolulu, California | | July 17, 2009 A humble spot in downtown North Torrance. Upon entering you are led to a large hall that is divided equally into a bar section (with brew equipment behind), and a restaurant seating area. My friend and I chose to sit at the bar. The beers we had were all decent, but served improperly cold and in funky goblets. Five were on tap the day I went, all pretty standard offerings (IPA, porter, amber, etc) The food was tolerable, but, again, nothing to write home about. Overall, there is nothing really worth complaining about this place, but it falls short of an "exciting" experience. | | kseecs16 (141), Naperville, Illinois | | March 12, 2008 Small, dark cozy bar with big vats behind. Busy open dining area. Basic lineup of brews, nothing mind blowing, passable quality.Nice pub grub menu with CA influences. Diverse low key crowd. Friendly service, comfortable place | | Charlzm (32), Los Angeles, California | | January 8, 2008 Visited on Monday 01/07/08 at about 4:00pm. Place was deserted. My friend and I sat at the bar and ordered an appetizer (spinach/artichoke dip). He had a pint of the porter, while I had the sampler. The bartender was very friendly and attentive, though not as knowledgable about beer as we were. The food took a long time to come, but that was okay. They have six taps brewed on premises, though they were out of the red ale when I visited. The decor is best described as early 20th century red brick reminded me of a firehouse. Dark and quiet when we were there, though I have been before when it was bustling and noisy. The relief bartender was also attentive and friendly she and I struck up a conversation about cars, of all things. Nice place. (here comes my standard closing line). If I lived closer, I’d visit a lot more often. | tangentrider (2), does not count - explanation | | June 24, 2007 [ Updated August 18, 2008 ] Dine here at least a few times a month. Very flavorful food. Today’s lunch was pork chops with ancho chili saucevery good. The beer is good. Their fall pumpkin ale is quite good. | wajacobs (1), does not count - explanation | | April 20, 2006 Had lunch and the South bay IPA. The salad was fine (can’t ruin a salad). The beer seemed a little off and perfumy, bitter without the aroma I expect from an IPA | | BeerLimey (76), California | | September 2, 2004 Place was faily busy when I was there for lunch, ambience is low key. The lite and wheat were pretty ordinary, the porter and IPA were decent. Only ate an appetizer, Thai Chicken Skewers, which was good. |
