6 reviews for Florian’s Fine Wines and Specialty Foods
0o9i (9), Reno, Nevada does not count - explanation | | October 17, 2009 I used to work up at the lake and stopped by here every so often. The owner is cool and will try to get things in if you ask. Good sandwiches. OK selection. Some interesting bombers, Green Flash, Avery, nothing too exotic. Pricey, small, mostly wine and a fancy little deli with prefixed salads, fancy olives, sandwich fixin’s, etc. | | JohnnyJ (29), Carlsbad, California | | September 24, 2009 I have been to this place numerous times, I just forgot to rate it. Fairly small, but decent selection. Stone, Lagunitas, etc. Now that I live in San diego it does not impress me much, but good shop for the location. | | bblack99 (17), Kansas City, Missouri | | September 24, 2009 Looks like the locals aren’t too impressed with Florian’s, but I stopped in while waiting for checkin time at my Reno hotel after cruising through Kings Beach. The selection here isn’t as broad as Booze Bros. but they have a better stash of Lagunitas, Deschutes, and Stone, which is really what I was looking for. P.S. I stopped at Whole Foods, they don’t even come close to the selection!
Store is clean and cozy, lit for a wine crowd. Only negative is that the new, unfrigerated bombers are up front exposed to sunlight. The cooler doesn’t have this kind of exposure though.
If you’re looking some west coast beers, Florian’s is worth a shot. I’ll try to update the "beers available here" from memory! | | kmweaver (113), Sebastopol, California | | October 27, 2008 [ Updated September 25, 2009 ] Nice specialty foods shop near old town Truckee with a wide selection of wine and a cooler full of beer. Probably one of the better places to stop in Truckee (aside from FiftyFifty), but nothing worth stopping for otherwise. Basic six-pack selection (Deschutes, Big Sky, Stone, etc.) that was a bit lacking and overpriced and empty (out of West Coast IPA, and a picked over selection of bombers). Most interesting things there were the Stone 08.08.08 and Deschutes 20th Anniversary. Otherwise, I’ve seen better selections of six-packs and Belgian / German beers at the local Whole Foods. | annapolisbeer (3), San Diego, California does not count - explanation | | December 26, 2007 This place is the only bottle shop in lake tahoe that has anything different than what you get in grocery stores. The only real bummer here is the people working there seem to know little to nothing about craft brews. Shaking belgians I plan to drink in a hour up by dropping them sideways to look at their prices. Thats a RED FLAG they dont know what their selling. Not to say they dont try to help. They just need to be educated a little better | | DYCSoccer17 (187), Davis, California | | August 19, 2007 Located in a strip mall, this store is relatively dimly lit. It is rather small and has a basic set up. A nice wall of 6 packs that are regional and a couple that don’t have wide distribution (Etna Brewing). They also had some fuckin Kokanee. Nice selection of bottled singles, including Allagash Victor (which I haven’t seen in California). Employee asked us for help, which was nice. Prices were average. They also had some wines and some cheeses and a few other specialty foods. I did not see any sake or cider. All in all, for a town this size, the beer selection is very nice. |
