Have been a number of time over the years most recently was on Sat 3rd Oct 2009. As ever there is always a really solid selection of Cask Ales, at a guess I’d say about ten at any one time and usually its a fairly interesting and diverse choice. Very good selection of Belgian, USA and other world beers that is probably only matched (maybe bettered for the Belgian range) by the equally excellent Live and Let Live. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, pleasant garden though now mostly laid to slabs or cobbles as I recall from my last venture out there in June. The Mill Road area of Cambridge is pretty much the be all and end all area for anyone visiting this lovely city and this is certainly one of the major highlights there.

My last pub stop before leaving England, nice selection of local ales, place was filled with locals. Food was okay better than the other pubs we visited in Cambridge.

Had a decent tuna mayo ciabatta, plus several scoops. Fair range of bottles, though nothing new. Garden was pleasant but overrun with children. Impressive hanging baskets. New barman was making a bit of a hash of things, but I daresay he’ll learn. Toilet needed attention.

A great back street pub with an amazing array of cask and bottle beers; most of the casks being on gravity. Good atmosphere and (seemingly) good food.

Cozy atmosphere, impressive selection of bottles and casks, and friendly staff and punters. Didn’t try any real food, and my low opinion of the scratchings is irrelevant since I’m no aficionado of the damn things.

Why aren’t more pubs like this. At the blue they realise that people go there to drink & so they have a great selection of good beer on draught & in the bottle. Not much in the way of mass produced, well marketed bland stuff, but loads of finely made flavoursome beers. Food is solid pub fare, the staff are friendly & they have some cracking beer festivals where the garden turns into a big tent of beer delights.

This pub has always been a decent place but now, under new management, it’s probably the best cask pub in Cambridge (although the Elm Tree is close). Six pumps in the main room plus other beers from the tap room which usually adds up to 10 or so, a pretty decent range, and there’s generally some rare-ish stuff there too. The food is decent and good value (for Cambridge!) especially the cheesy Garlic bread... and Caribbean chicken curry! With the pub being close to both the L&LL and Kingston (and Bacchanalia offy) it’s well on the circuit and well worth a visit.
