| Fin (97), Merton, England | | October 5, 2009 A very decent boozer that I’ve frequented on a number of occasions over the last few years. Visited here on 03-10-09 and whilst it is undoubtedly a great little place it seems to have slipped a little further behind its close neighbour the Cambridge Blue, there was a beer festival on when I arrived but to be honest I was barely even aware of this unitl I went out into the garden and saw the casks, no one was out there and compeared to the garden of last time it seemed a little sad and deserted, I accpet that this visit was in October (albeit on a pleaant day) and my last visit was in June but much of the garden is covered. The beer selection was reasonably diverse but seemed to lack imagination. The beer quality was good though and maybe I just visited on a day when it wasn’t at its best. | | ladnewton (60), London, England | | August 17, 2009 A superb pub! I visited on Saturday 15th August 2009 and found pub unchanged since last time. Ten well-kept beers on, and a superb, comprehensive food menu catering for everyone. Drinkers are invited to use the internet on a screen opposite the bar and those wishing to drink outside are provided with a spacious rear patio garden. Staff are friendly and enthusiastic about their jobs, rubbing off on service which I found to be very good indeed. This pub is a MUST on any Cambridge crawl. | | berkshirejohn (79), Bracknell, England | | June 17, 2009 [ Updated November 2, 2009 ] A light and airy backstreet pub with a good range of ales (but somewhat eclipsed by the Cambridge Blue around the corner). A wide ranging selection of 10 beers on hand-pump, with 6 regulars and 4 guests; good service, and great prices. Very busy in the early evening due to the excellent food. | bacchanalia (4), milton, England does not count - explanation | | March 18, 2009 They always have about 8 pumps on at any one time. A selection of classics that are always there, including Crouch Vale Brewers Gold & I believe Entire Stout from hopback. They also have 3 guest beers, so there’s always something to tickle your fancy. Food is great & the beers are well kept. Great wine list as well if you like that sort of thing. | | madsberg (35), Søborg, Denmark | | August 20, 2007 Very calm and freindly place. Helpful and attentive servings. Felt quite at home eventhough I sat with my paper and pen. The lineup was great. Crouch Vale Brewers Gold and varios beers from places like Ossett, Oakham, Arundel, Wooden Hand and Mighty Oak. Easy to find when on bicycle. Were there twice during my stay in Cambridge. Wireless internet, so you can bring your own laptop!!!. | | FatPhil (121), Espoo, Finland | | August 18, 2007 Quiet, friendly feel. Always with 10 real ales on hand pump. No bottled beers, no lagers. And that’s policy. No piped music, I consider that a plus. Tucked away down a side-street on the south-east of town (head down mill road), you’ll need to be sneaky to hide your car somewhere. Oh - free internet access on 2 terminals for customers. Rate while you drink - hoorah! |
