| kiefdog (101), Tampa, Florida | | November 7, 2009 Visited for dinner on a recent trip to GABF 2009. The place was packed when we arrived at 600pm that evening, but yet we were still seated pretty quickly. My wife was excited about many of the Belgian beers on the menu, but they were out of everything that she wanted to try. After settling on some "second choice" beers, we ordered our appetizers and food and proceeded to wait an excessively long time (nearly an hour) before being served --with no explanations or comments offered by the server or the manager. Overall experience was mediocre at best during GABF, but that may have just been because of the influx of folks for the festival. We will give a second try on our next trip to Denver. | | presario (105), Calgary, Alberta | | October 10, 2009 Cool place 2 blocks from the Motel. Inexpensive food. Good service and good selection of Belgian beer on tap. The food was amazing and the fresh bread delicious. | | fly (190), austin, Tejas, | | September 30, 2009 Decent, but limited Belgian selection. At least on tap (and I do admit that I was there after a LONG day of drinking and was close o falling into my beer). | | Poperinge (119), Cowtown, Alberta | | September 25, 2009 Food food, great bread and nice selection of Belgians on tap and in the bottle. Just for my buddy Presario amazing bread. | | Ernest (105), Boulder, Colorado | | September 24, 2009 Been here twice (and had food both times, and one time shared two dishes), not impressed either time. The food is fairly poor, as you might get in an Applebee’s or something like that...I don’t plan on eating here again. The beer list isn’t bad but they have a weird focus on kegs vs. bottled beer (weird because Belgian beers are often more complex and enjoyable from bottle due to bottle conditioning...kegged samples I’ve had are usually more sterile and simple). The list is not very large for either, though, and there really aren’t many gems on it (mostly common stuff from the bigger breweries...don’t expect to find Drie Fonteinen here, for example). It’s a nice concept, but the execution here is lacking, almost as if the person behind it isn’t really that serious of a Belgian beer nerd. | | jbye4334 (44), Colorado Springs, Colorado | | July 12, 2009 Nice atmosphere with bar and seating indoors and outdoors. Pretty good Belgian beer selection, which is what they specialize in. Was a little pricey. Had a Great Divide Double Wit and a Westmalle Trappist Ale. Good service. Food was average, and I expected better. Worth the trip for a beer if your into Belgian styles. | astrivian (4), Colorado does not count - explanation | | May 12, 2009 Great if you like Belgian beers; wonderful selection if a bit pricey. I have heard the fish and chips are really good but i hate fish. | | ¾ (599), Colorado | | April 14, 2009 Saturday afternoon visit, not very busy. Very helpful waitstaff, knowledgeable but not pretentious. Respectable bottle and draft selection, nothing uber rare but enough to satisfy almost any Belgian beer craving. Only bottled traditional gueuze was Lindemans Cuvee Rene and I would have preferred Drie Fonteinen, Girardin or Cantillon. Curry mussels and frites were quite good. No complaints. | | Braudog (478), Dayton, Ohio | | February 20, 2009 February 2009. Groovy brick-clad beer-themed restaurant not far from the center of downtown. The crowd was a mix of yuppies and hipsters, but the ambiance was much more "chill" than the often frenetic FRTH across town. They were offering 15 taps -- Carlsberg, New Belgium 1554 and 13 fairly unusual Belgian offerings. They also had a dozen or so quality Belgians by the bottle. The menu was a delight to peruse and hard to decide on what to pick! The food was all excellent. The check put a bit of a dent in our wallet, but you have to expect that for true Belgians on draft. Oh, and our waitress was hot. | | theisti (114), Leawood, Kansas | | December 22, 2008 [ Updated September 25, 2009 ] Visited Thursday night Dec 18 2008. What this place is not - a hard core beer geek bar with uber rare beer. What this place is - a good comfortable place to hang out and drink nice Belgian beers. I visited with a group of folks who like beer, but are not geeks. This place worked really well for our group, they enjoyed trying new beers and learning about Belgian beers, I enjoyed having Hopsinjoor and Damnation. One of my friends commented that he like this place better than Falling Rock, because he never knows what to order at FR. My recommendation would be to skip if you are visiting, with limited time. Hit it with friends if you are a local. |
