| notalush (163), Denver, Colorado | | November 28, 2009 Every major city in America has a brewpub like Wynkoop - a huge pub that tries really hard to be cozy inside, in the heart of the city, with higher than average prices for the area, that makes serviceable beer that all of the locals that know jack shit about real beer swear is the best beer on the fucking planet - Boston has Beerworks, New York has Heartland, etc., etc., and Denver has this place - don’t get me wrong, this is a decent place, but there are lots of better beer places in Denver - the beers are decent, the staff is friendly - there really isn’t much to complain about, really - it’s just so-so - growlers are reasonably priced, though. | | kiefdog (103), Tampa, Florida | | October 31, 2009 Visited during GABF 2009. Arrived 10 minutes before opening, and we were greeted and seated anyway. The older charm of this building is apparent, and we the manner in which the brewpub was painted, decorated and lit. Menu items were fairly extensive, and many seemed appealing. The food that we had was excellent and the beer was solid. A must stop when in Denver. | | wetherel (80), Encinitas, California | | October 11, 2009 Nice place right around the corner from Falling Rock for additional place rating. Nice beers too. | | sroberts (26), Columbia, Missouri | | September 7, 2009 I enjoyed the diverse selection and the atmosphere. I was not impressed with the service or staff knowledge. | | PaulUnwin (15), Pinellas Park, | | September 1, 2009 Took the wife in for dinner, and thought the food was very good. The beer although not the best I have ever tasted was good enough. Too many TV’s for my liking though, I watch TV at home, not in the pub! | jpauly (3), Colorado does not count - explanation | | July 28, 2009 Nice standard downtown Denver stop. Good but not great beer selection. Chili beer is the best I’ve ever had and their seasonal is usually very good. Decent menu but a little over priced. Still a nice place for an evening out. The great pool hall upstairs adds a lot. | | jbye4334 (44), Colorado Springs, Colorado | | July 12, 2009 Nice bar setup. Good location. That said, we sat at the bar for about 15-20 minutes before being greeted by an employee. A manager spoke with us about their beers for about 5 minutes, but didn’t ask if we wanted anything to drink. The first bartender looked at us when we sat down, but then avoided us. We finally got service when the next bartender arrived for her shift, and tried 3 of Wynkoop’s beers. They had a good IPA and smoked porter. Food was decently priced but not too great. Would like to go back and try some more of their beers, but this place definitely isn’t at the top of my list when I go back to Denver. | | pjbern571 (19), Florida | | July 4, 2009 Nice Little place, cool atmosphere. The beer was better than expected and the food was very good, The Beer bread was also very good. I would recommend this place for anyone in the area its a nice litte place to check out. | | thelady (16), fruitland, New Mexico | | May 28, 2009 The beer here was not great at all! My boyfriend was ill the nest day after only having 3! I think it was the yeast! The food was OK. The barley wine tasted spoiled! | | zizzybalubba (36), Elizabeth City, North Carolina | | April 30, 2009 [ Updated September 27, 2009 ] Visited during GABF week 2007. This is a HUGE brewpub in downtown Denver. Nice selection of beers although I didn’t have anything that blew me away. Good food menu. Worth checking out at least once while in Denver. I will go back...and I did go back for GABF in 2009. While I find most of the beers to be just alright this is still a must stop while in Denver. And the food was really good (and reasonable). |
