Went here tonight for dinner. The tap list, while small, is impressive. The also offer every German beer that is available for purchase in CT and get some rare ones on occasion. The atmosphere is that of a German house. Out back, there’s a nice size biergarden that isn’t yet open for the season. They have frequent festivals here that are worth checking out. The food is top notch as is the service. Definitely worth a stop if you’re interested in an authentic Bavarian experience. Just make sure you’re coming for the food and not just the beer as this is a restaurant and has no bar. During peak dining times, call ahead to make a reservation as they can get very crowded.

A truly great restaurant that deserves as much patronage as it can get. The food is awesome, with decent prices and generous portions. One bite of fried schnitzel with brown mushroom gravy, pan-fried spaetzel and red cabbage and you’ll see what I mean. This restaurant has been rated the best German restaurant in Fairfield country two years in a row, and it is more than deserving of the honor. On top of the good truly Bavarian cuisine, there’s an awesome beer selection of pretty much every good bottled German available in the area. Taps tend to be somewhat less exciting, but they did have A.S. Fastenbier on tap once. Between the food and the German beer you can’t ask for a much more satisfying German dining experience in the area.

One final note: much to many locals’ dismay, the owner passed away suddently and untimely early in 2007. I had spoken with him several times and considered him a friend and a good man. The family intends to keep the place open in his honor. Help them and give them business... they deserve it and you will not regret it.
