10 reviews for BruRm @ BAR
| CanIHave4Beers (54), Des Moines, Iowa | | October 13, 2009 This place is beautiful looking, cool old exposed brick, concrete walls everywhere, and cool little nooks. There was some sort of show happening in the back room that was really cool looking... what struck me about that was that we saw some experimental electronic music the first time I ducked in, then later there was some heavier kind of punk rock happening, just kind of cool how they mixed it up. The service was basically bad, but no one was outright rude. The beer selection was ok, but the beer we ordered that was made in house might have been the worst beer I had on my entire vacation. What can I say... it’s a cool place, the apizza looked awesome, and you can get good beer there. It’s ok. | | MartinT (348), Montreal, Quebec | | July 20, 2009 Quite the electic decor this place has. I’m pretty sure the vibe is excellent in the late evenings. One dining room on the right side, an odd bar with fermenters and unfinished walls on the left, and a dazzling techno dance room in the back. Lots of care has been taken into decorating the place, it is obvious. If only the same care had been taken in crafting their beers...Apparently the pizzas are very interesting, but we didn’t stay around long enough because most of the beers were problematic. | | FanwickMike (33), | | September 24, 2008 [ Updated September 26, 2008 ] beer tour 09/22/08 stopped by to check out the beers. Hostess first stated that wait time would be 10-20 minutes, then pointed out a bar we could sit at instead, so points to her. Waitress came and took order, beer sampler for me, water for wife. None of the beers were anything other than ordinary, although the stout was the best of the bunch. Place was very crowded, so possibly I am missing the appeal, but from a beer only stand-point I was not impressed. | | Bungalo22 (22), Bridgeport, Connecticut | | April 16, 2008 Pizza is really good and if you are looking to dance to techno it works to but the beer is, ehhh. I found the pale ale as a drinker the best of the bunch. Of course I normally go darker but they were just a bit too flat and not balanced. When i was 21 I loved the place but for different reasons. Still worth checking out and yes, the pizza is pretty good. During late afternoon the bartenders are helpful but forget it after that. | gremlin45 (1), New Haven, Connecticut does not count - explanation | | September 29, 2007 The Damn Good Stout was delicious and we had a great pizza. The bar itself was pretty crowded and I was disappointed in their pale ale. | | hopdog (197), Lansdale, Pennsylvania | | September 15, 2007 Stopped by at 2:00pm on a Friday and had the whole place to myself. They were out of 1 of their 5 house beers (their stout at that). Decent pizzas. I got good service (because I was the only one there!). Nothing to go out of your way to (at least it is minutes off of 95). | | cazort (25), Newark, Delaware | | July 3, 2007 As with most (nearly all?) American brewpubs, this one loses on the beer. The beer is average, and they don’t even have a huge selection of it. The food? Well, it’s limited to pizza, but the pizza is damn good. The quality of the pizza is enough to redeem my other complaints about this place. The service was quite slow, I might add. Atmosphere? It’s a bit strange...the bar part has a garage door which opens onto the street in warm weather. As night falls, this place becomes filled with lots of pretentious people...not really my style. But the pizza is damn good... | | TomDecapolis (69), Skippack, Pennsylvania | | April 20, 2007 Stopped in here on our way from Philadelphia to Boston for some food and drinks. We arrived on a Thursday evening around 7pm and were quoted a half hour wait. About 1 hour and a half later we finally got a table. The hostess allowed one table to sit there after paying and ordering their last drink for close to an hour after they were done. When you have people waiting you can’t do that! Pizza was great. 5 hours beers, some locals and imports. My order came out wrong though and our server was MIA by the end of our meal. Mediocre house beer. | | Cletus (175), Connecticut | | May 15, 2006 [ Updated December 26, 2007 ] Pretentious is the best way to describe this place. Not your typical brewpub. This place is also a night club and a pizza place. The house beers brewed here border on excellent. Try to catch them in the late spring or early winter when they are less crowded and have some of their best seasonals on draught. There are a total of 13 taps here. Unfortunately, 8 of them are basic macro crap. Their bottle list also leaves something to be desired. | | DYCSoccer17 (187), Davis, California | | February 1, 2005 I can’t really rate this place too accurately. I was here for the CT real ale festival. I can say they probably had about 8 tap of their own stuff on. I cannot comment on the service or the food either. The ambiance is really cool--it’s got sort of a random industrial look to it. It’s somewhat dark as well. |
