The Auto Mercados throughout San Jose and some of the more gringo-fied areas of Costa Rica (Escazu, Playa del Coco, etc.) are the best selection of craft beer you’re likely to find in Central America. Duvel (for $3 apiece!), fresh Sam Adams, Red Seal, Pranqster, Paulaner Hell, random hefes and Belgian imports, occasionally Lindemans Kriek. After Nicaragua and everything I’ve seen of Costa Rica, these are heaven.
