| ogivlado (145), Zagreb, Croatia | | May 23, 2009 [ Updated May 24, 2009 ] Basement place, not so difficult to find. The place was almost full at 9 p.m. Worth visit only for unfiltered Policka beers which didn’t justify my expectations. One of the service lit few incense sticks and the place become stinky, so we finished our beers fast and went away. | | Glouglouburp (214), Montreal, Quebec | | September 12, 2008 Basement bar walking distance from the touristy Prague. Sit about 50. Between 20 and 30 Kuronas for a 500ml pint (cheaper than average for Prague). Very quiet place, some commercial radio station in the background, laid back customers are not there to party. Beer selection was three taps. The good news is that the beers I got there were unusual finds that I didn’t see anywhere else, the bad news is that none of them very good. Overall this is a cosy neighbourhood pub that doesn’t off much for the tourist/beer-geek. If you are in the neighbourhood I suggest you stop by but don’t make a detour to go there. | | gnoff (127), Göteborg, Sweden | | July 8, 2008 Nice place and nice beers. Visited rather late on a week day, so almost empty when we arrived. Did not eat. Nice place to relax. | | MartinT (348), Montreal, Quebec | | May 4, 2008 This basement restaurant offered lots of Policka beers on tap, including some hard-to-find unfiltered varieties. The atmosphere was rather drab when we went, so we didn’t stay very long. The Policka beers are very personable either (in my tastes), so that made the decision quite easy. Pints are 24Kc, which is cheap for microbrewed beer in Prague. Overall, the relatively modern salon/café/restaurant feel and the quiet atmosphere, combined with the forgettable beer, make me suggest you skip this place unless you have a place in Zizkov and come back to this area of Prague often. | | TaktikMTL (141), Montréal-Nord, Quebec | | April 23, 2008 Établissement visité le lundi 17 mars vers 19h30. Ambiance: Dans un sous-sol. Décoration champętre et radio en sourdine. Service: Correct sans plus. Langue tchčque seulement. . Sélection: 6 fűts de la brasserie Policske lors de mon passage. Nourriture: Disponible mais j’ai rien pris. (76e rating d’établissement) | Pivero (4), , Czech Republic does not count - explanation | | February 2, 2008 Nice place, very nice beers. Specially thos kvasnicova.
The food on the other hand, hmmm, not really what I go there for. | | mullet (133), Melbourne, Australia | | January 14, 2008 As mentioned below, there’s heaps of Policka beers to try here. They’re nice enough, but didn’t particularly grab me. Otherwise a very suburban, family restaurant feel. Food was nice enough, but fairly standard stuff. Friendly people. Worth a look, but not a must-see for mine. | | Quack-Duck (99), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany | | May 25, 2007 a favourite place of mine in Prague. 6 Policka beers on tap, including two very rare kvasnicové, which are only available here. Beers available in bottles as well, enjoy at home. Staff is friendly. The food is very good. Large selection of hearty Czech food, but not the touristy kind, this is "real" Czech food in a "real" Czech restaurant. | DerDoppelbock (1), Aachen, Germany does not count - explanation | | October 14, 2006 Yeah, I agree with pivnizub. I get all Policka beers, some on tap and those I couldn’t taste anymore, I got them in bottles. Nice place, really good beer and food for fair prices. Worth a visit! | | pivnizub (273), Bochum, Porúří, Germany | | October 10, 2005 If You are tired of the beaten tracks in Prague, tired of all the Urquell-Budvar-Schwarzbier-Homebrew-pubs in the bohemian capital, try this suburban outlet of the rural Policka brewery in the Vinohrady-quarter of Prague.Neither the building nor the basement-one room-local called "Hrom do police" (literally: thunder into a shelf; it means: bull in a china-shop) are architecturally exciting, a breath of "tristesse socialiste" is waving through this restaurant :-) ! But You have there the unique chance to to sample the whole range of the Policka brews (10°, 10° dark, 11°, 11° kvasnicove - unfiltered, 12°, 12° kvasnicove - unfiltered) at very reasonable prices, maybe together with some basic czech meals. |
