Tour was pretty large - I’d say there were more than 30 people, and the tours before ours and after were also pretty big. Brewery is large and clean with some interesting stops such as the wooden tanks used to make Paulo Saint Marrin. The entire thing is free and you get 4 sizable taste samples as well. A ton of merchandise for sale as well as reduced prices on their beer, yet the selection wasn’t that impressive. No rare or limited bottles available at all. Visited with dmtroyer, and I agree with his sentiments.

Pretty busy during the summer, the brewery tour was nothing too unseen but our guide was quite cute, chipper and very responsive to questions. The free tour includes 4 samples at the end. You can buy beer (not spirits :-() for the best prices you’ll find in the country but they don’t hold anything so selection is fairly slim even compared to the brewpub. A must for dogfish fans.

Took the tour on a slow monday. Only 10 people total, which was nice. While we waited we sampled some beer. The tour it self was educational and the speaker was very knowledgeable about everything. At the end we sampled more beer. Nothing rare but really good since they are fresh. They also have most of their beers for sale while you are there. Over all a good time. I would only suggest that if you are thinking about taking the tour, DO NOT, try to go in the summer. It would be too crowded and that is their busy time.

Took the tour on Fri 11/2/07. First we stopped in MIlton, a quaint little town and had lunch at the Irish Eyes Pub. Nice little place and the food was pretty good. We walked around in some of the shops in Milton to kill some time before the tour. The best time to go as far as the tour being crowded is off season. There were probably 50 people on this tour and it was not bad. The tour guide was informative, funny and sarcasticly funny at times. There was plenty of time for questions at the end of the tour before we went back for sampling the beer. The day we went they had Shelter Pale Ale, Chickory Stout, 90 Minute IPA and World Wiide Stout on tap with plenty of refills as needed. It was a great start to our weekend trip to Rehoboth. I would suggest that at least on one trip to the Eastern Shore you make the stop at the brewery.

Took the tour on a chilly Wednesday afternoon. Like previous reviewers commented, most of our tour group were people who knew diddly about beer and had no idea they were visiting one of the country’s most innovative breweries. I overheard one of the red-hat ladies asking her first and most telling question: What’s your lightest beer? Anyway, our tour guide Fred was a pleasantly sarcastic smart ass who was informative enough and tailored the tour to the crowd. He and the handful of other guides were generous with the sample pours, too. If I was disappointed in anything, it was that there weren’t more ’different’ beers available. Nothing here I can’t get at home, although their retail prices at the brewery are about $1 cheaper than my normal source. Another disappointment in an odd way was to see how big this brewery is becoming. I fear yet another quality brewer will succomb to the pressures of size and lose its ecentric edge. All that said, it was worth our time. (Brewery #450, 11/7/2007).

i was definitely disappointed with the tour. there was a huge crowd many of which were not hte least bit interested in hearing the tour. our guide rushed through the brewery and what little he said was very hard to hear. we sampled three beers after the tour. it is hard to expect quality when you have that many people involved. maybe it would be best not to go in the summer. there was also plenty of merchandise to purchase.

the tour was ok, the problem I had was that it was about 75 people, and only about 20% was into the tour, and 80% did it because their Concierge said it was something fun to do. it was hot, so the tour was rushed for these two reasons, lack of interest and the heat in certain parts of the brewery. You could tell that these guys put up with a lot of Stupid questions, so they were great, it was great to see the brewery and the tasting was good considering the numbers involved, a good supply of merchandise on hand to satisfy any tourists needs. Overall it was fun, just over crowded.

These guys are the best. The tour was what you’d expect from a brewery with their motto. The tour guide was funny and sarcastic. Very thorough and he answered a lot of questions, even though his voice was scratchy. There was a gentleman who would pour 60 minute and Indian Brown as soon as your glass was empty, there he was. It was a great time. This is the standard against which all others are measured.

I had a crappy experience here as well. The tour was rushed and nothing was explained in any detail. The guide acted rude and annoyed the entire time. It was just a dash through the brewery to get you to the gift shop and buy stuff. I hope someone from DFH reads this and improves the tours; it would be nice to have a brewery experience as rich and interesting as most of their beers.

I was a bit bummed about this visit,. The guide obviosuly did not want to be here on a Saturday. He seemed rushed and non-interested. While waiting for the tour to start we watched as he and his staff drank and did not explain to the folks what was up! When he did speak the tour was quite informative. He only offered us very small samples of two beers. Kind of odd from what everyone has told me. I came down to visit DFH and this was way off from the Brew pub experience. I guess he had a bad day!
