| Svesse (88), Hässelby, Sweden | | November 8, 2009 Nice and friendly bar, hidden away in a small courtyard in an office area that is more or less emtpy off office hours. Once I found the bar, that wasn’t empty though. Modern interior with a small seating area by the entrance and the bar and a larger seating area one staircase up. There’s also a smoking room at the back, since this is also a cigar place. Not a huge selection of beer, but good quality. Nögne Ö IPA on tap and several beers from Nögne Ö and Haandbryggeriet in bottles. Some interesting imported beers as well. And a good cognac and whiskey selection. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Recommended. | | Smaskifa (11), Oslo, Norway | | July 25, 2009 One of the best things about this place is the location, hidden away in the small courtyard of (among other things) a scientific research institute. Nice and quiet place, with the option of sitting outside. The interior is a bit weird. They had a nice selection of bottled beer, mostly importet, but also norwegian micro’s. I enjoyed a really nice Nøgne Ø IPA on tap/cask. You also find a nice selection of single malts and cognac. | | Kestral (19), Oslo, Norway | | March 27, 2009 Cognac bar with a healthy selection of norwegian micros on bottle and cask, some good imports too. Usually some harder to find norwegian beers. The owner is knowledgable, the others.. not so much. Nice and quiet place. | | Sigmund (77), Hafrsfjord, Norway | | October 2, 2008 Modern beer bar, the interior is not cosy according to my taste. Situated in a sterile business / office part of the city. But the staff is friendly, and they have a limited but nice selection of Belgian beers and Norwegian microbrews. | | yngwie (82), Kristiansand, Norway | | July 30, 2008 Tucked away in the centre of Oslo, lies Bar & Cigar. It’s a cozy, friendly place with some of the most interesting Norwegian beers in bottles, and every now and then there’s cask beer available. As usual in Norway, the beers are pricey, but at least they are good. The patio is a nice place to enjoy shadow on a hot afternoon, but there’s usually some skaters disturbing the peace. | | espenra (12), Oslo, Norway | | March 22, 2008 [ Updated November 7, 2009 ] NIce and quiet place in the centre of Oslo, but a bit hidden so it’s not crowded.
As the name suggests it’s primary target is the cigar and spirits crowd, but they also have a nice, although a bit limited selection of beer. | | Furseth (15), Kungälv, Sweden | | October 24, 2006 Nice qiuiet place were I go when I`m in Oslo. Silent not crowdy, and You colould have a nice talk with the stuff witout feel that you disturb . Nice place with a nice selctions of Norwegian: Nögne Ö, and Haandbryggeriet, and some Belgian beers. | | KnutAlbert (148), Oslo, Norway | | November 1, 2005 Nice and quiet place, a bit hidden. The owner knows his beers - the selection is small, but hand picked, both imports and Norwegian micros. | | larsga (108), Oslo, Norway | | September 13, 2005 Rather unusual place, in that the owner deliberately tries to make it a local, and to get returning guests to know each other. Very low-key place, quiet, good seating, outdoor serving in summer, plus a big heated place where you can smoke all year round. Staff is mostly owner plus good-looking young girls.
The focus is really on cognac, cigars, and beer, in that order. The beer selection is small and changing, but contains only good stuff. Typically has some standard Belgians (Duvel, Westmalle, ...), some Nøgne Ø (4-5 different ones), and now also Haandbryggeriet.
The staff is very pleasant, but not very knowledgeable on beer, except the owner, who is happy to discuss the subject. |
