| TimE (86), Tokyo, Japan | | September 25, 2008 This place blows. My parents were annoyed by the super kitchy german music that blares from speakers onto the street and I was not looking forward to going in the place. Prices were sky high, beer was crap. Atmosphere was crap and service was mediocre at best. Plus all beers were only in 500ml or bigger, which did not make it ideal for sampling. They had a sampler tray for about $30. You gotta be joking me! Get in and out as fast as possible is my recommendation. | | Nekronos (35), Xalapa, Mexico | | August 20, 2008 too expensive, I understand it’s a touristic place but this was too much. The food was good and the beer is nice. As in LAtvia they take ages to service you. | | spporras (21), , Finland | | May 26, 2008 Beer House is located in the old town of Tallinn. In May 2008, this German style large brewpub offered 7 house beers. Even though the brewers could use a bit more imagination considering the beer styles they brew, the quality of the products is above average among Estonian breweries. I found the way some waiters/waitresses have dressed a bit corny but, if the traditional German style is preferred, who am I to disagree :-) I have visited the place twice and on both occasions the food was good. I recall that during my first visit in Summer of 2005 the service was pretty rough but this year it was much better - in fact the waiters were very friendly. Beer House is a touristic place but, unfortunately, there is no competition in this field in Tallinn. So if you happen to be around, don’t hesitate to pop in. | mendeleev (1), , Russia does not count | | April 10, 2008 O, this midage style of good old europe! This wooden tables and wow-old-styled girls, who bring you one of three beer sort. Beer, that brewered just at your eyes, at the center of this pub! | | Tranquillity (16), Espoo, Finland | | February 19, 2008 The inside garden with a huge wooden horse with and even bigger wooden penis is awsome. The service is good, there are quite many beers that are available all the time. Many hang-over mornings have been spent at this place. | | FatPhil (106), Espoo, Finland | | November 13, 2007 [ Updated November 27, 2007 ] Bavarian scene, piped oompah music. Tourist trap prices. All the beers are unfiltered, and thus vastly more flavoursome than pretty much all other baltic lagers. Food is high quality but quite expensive. However, *ALL BEER IS HALF PRICE* during happy hour, and it then actually becomes a pretty cheap venue. So make sure you stack 2 Masses just before 2pm arrives. Sit inside the big wooden beermug for more privacy. | | SaintMatty (26), Tallinn, Estonia | | October 14, 2007 I was very excited about going to this vast place after reading about it but I was disappointed by the beers and the service. The beers are mainly German styled in what is essentially a German styled beer hall. They are technically well made but are a bit bland for my tastes and the recipes are not adventurous enough.
The service is more often than not very slow and rude and the prices have the tourists in mind and in my mind do not represent good value for money.
The food is on the pricey side unless you go during one of their happy hours but I have not tried their food yet so cannot really comment too much on it.
I do not feel the staff have enough knowledge about beer which is what you would expect in a brew pub. I am not asking for them to be experts but I would expect them to have some kind of knowledge on what they are saying.
This is a tourist trap restaurant which just happens to sell beer brewed on the premises. I think it has great potential but I would like to see a bit more invention. | | Theis (58), Frederiksberg, Denmark | | October 6, 2006 We (me and Mette) were on a Baltikum holiday last summer (2005). On that trip we went through Tallinn, and visited this palce. It reminds me a lot of Apollo in Copenhagen, just bigger, and with a lot more drunk people... the beer is more or less the same quality. But i don’t think they "eksperiment" as much !! It seems like they just want to sell some beer... | | Fin (68), Merton, England | | September 16, 2006 Went here May 2005. Large brewpub that serves reasonably good beers but like Gazza says it is much more expensive than some of the neighbouring bars, I didn’t mind it but I can imagine it could get very crowded with the stag weekend crowd and weekenders in general. | | radiomgb (31), Peterborough, Ontario | | July 27, 2006 7 of their own beers are on tap, I only tried 2. Medieval looking interior with Bavarian music playing. Bench seating. I had a pizza. It was quite good but it is ridiculously huge. | View Page : 1 2
