Although it might be a bit touristy, its still worth experiencing. Very cool ambiance, dollar bills line the ceiling and some walls. If you get a chance, sit by the brewing area as they have chalk boards with some recipes on them. Kinda neat. The beer itself is pretty close to standards such as Guiness, Bass, an Irish Red, a decent porter, etc. The steaks are freakin’ awesome! Good size portions of food. Try the 18 cent bean soup. | petzdrgonizbk (2), Milton, Florida does not count - explanation | | December 17, 2007 I have been to McGuires several times, and every time I have enjoyed the experience. The food is very nice and rustic, the atmosphere is very friendly, the service is always great, and the beverage selection is( spot on) to my English buddies! If i had to find a complaint it may be that it is always packed! | | Charlzm (32), Los Angeles, California | | December 13, 2007 I have been to McGuire’s three or four times in the last ten years and always make it a point of visiting whenever I’m in Pensacola. They have some of the best food in town, certainly the best beer, unique and fascinating decor and good service. This place would do gangbusters business anywhere, but in this town, it’s the best place for many, many miles for a beer enthusiast. | | performula (27), Triangle Area, North Carolina | | September 19, 2007 If you like money you’ll love this place. The whole place is lined with $1.00 bills everywhere. Make sure you deface a G.W. to support their tradition. Food was average, service was good. Ordered a set of King Crab legs and they must not have been in season. :( | pojo41 (6), Hattiesburg, Mississippi does not count - explanation | | September 12, 2007 Stopped in the day after the Emerald Coast Beerfest with my girlfriend and my brother. Our waitress was very friendly and familiar with their beer selection. We had three of their huge sandwiches and two pitchers of porter. The food was excellent and the beer was very good. Whenever in Pensacola or Destin we make a point to stop here. | flmuphi63 (4), Cocoa, Florida does not count - explanation | | May 28, 2007 I was a hurricane relief worker withthe National Guard in Mississippi. We needed some R&R and we headed to McGuires. It was a great time, great food and I had to take the bathroom tour just so i knew which one I was supposed to go to. Over all, I cant remember much of my stay due to the Irish Wakes and the many other drinks we consumed there that day. Loved it and would definately drive 6 hours to go back. | | batkins (76), Vancouver, Washington | | May 5, 2007 Your typical Irish pub. The pub is spread out, with lots of little rooms. The bar, where I sat, is fairly small. 5 styles on tap, including one seasonal. The IPA was the seasonal and wasn’t bad, especially for Pensacola. Burgers are really good. | madcanon (4), Fairhope, Alabama does not count - explanation | | January 12, 2007 Nice ambience, very beery type place. Good
food and interesting Dollars all over!!! | | PorterPounder (161), Tallahassee, Florida | | August 20, 2005 Originally entered May 2004...somebody entered a duplicate entry of McGuires...... Wonderful atmosphere - very Irishy - how authentic? I have no idea as I have never been to Ireland. The beer was great - I had the Irish Stout and the Porter and the Stout rivaled Guinness in my opinion - excellent for a brewpub stout. Only had five on tap though and do not seem to have a rotating selection. The service was good - very prompt and friendly. Only been there once - I had a Reuben sandwich and it was very good - but can’t vouch for anything else on the menu. Overall, a must visit if you are in the Pensacola area. Interesting tradition - people staple dollar bills and write their names on them - it is said that there are over 250,000 dollar bills stapled throughout the various rooms - looks like it too! | View Page : 1 2
