Timewrap compared to the historical center of Bamberg. It was not our first destination, but Brauerei Sepial across the street was closed until September.Place looked old with the funky smell of old places.
Beer was not bad, 3 choices of Fässla beer, but nothing too exiting.
Food was not as good as all other places we visited. The tomato soup looked more like canned soup, the rest of the menu was the typical pork, sausage and panned fish.
Overall it remains fairly cheap, but maybe too high for the quality you get.

Intricate and rustic old German architecture. We visited after a 30km bike ride to cool down with some cold beer. A small inner courtyard is darkened by shade, and it’s a comfortable place to unwind and have a couple of drinks. The Pils was quite tasty, while the Helles was downright delicious. Right across the street from Spezial so be sure to hit up both of them at once.

This place is a lot more worn down than the others, it didn’t seem like the historical timewarp that Schlenkerla was, it was more like an old man’s tavern, the Moose’s lodge you grandpa hung out in. Oddly, it seemed to be more of a twentysomething hangout, even on a weekday afternoon. If there’s a no smoking section in there, I didn’t find it, but our little corner wasn’t too bad, but bad enough not to eat or have more than one Beer. The house lager vom fass was good, but not great. Service was typical, our waiter was prompt with our order but turned into the invisible man when it was time for Zahlen bitte.

Not the best beerplace in Bamberg. However it has a cosey beergarten and friendly staff. Good place to relax with a nice beer along.

Seems like a very local place - the first thing, that hits you is a lot of cigarette smoke in the hallway coming into the place - there is drinking and smoking going on here since quite early morning. The bierstube is wooden old and very cozy, but tending to be a bit smoky as well. We stayed at the place - good prices, but you need to speak a bit of German to make the reservations, but then the service was friendly and good. 4 new beers for me - but 6 in all available. We only had breakfast, which was OK, but not spectacular in any way. Nice place.

Cosy old Bamberger brewpub with a nice beergarden. Smells like horseblanket and barnyard, but that’s fun when you visit such a brewery. The beers are not really good though, and they only had 2 beers available from tap.

Smelly, smokey old brewery, quite busy and authentic I guess. Went here twice and was not overly impressed either time... the beers were average to good, the lager was rubbish on both days. Didn’t eat. In my opinion you are better off spending time across the road at Spezial, where the air is breathable.

Great beer in a very smoky ambiance. On warmer days (it was below zero) I’d prefer the Schwemme. Friendly but somewhat overworked staff. Decent and fairly cheap hotel rooms (had a view on Spezial from my window) and a fine breakfast. Recommended.

Their own beer served from wooden casks. I found the staff a little unhelpful and don’t rate the Fassla beers as highly as others in Bamberg. Still nice out in the courtyard though.

Very good brewery, all of the beers I had were good. Not a lot of English spoken here, so be prepared. Very smokey, this is a smoker’s brewpub. Right across the street from Spezial, absolutely a worthwhile place to visit. Food is allround good german food.
