July 23, 2009 All right place, with a nice garten out back with giant shade trees. The inside is the usual Bavarian grandmother’s place. The food prices are a bit higher than average. You can get Ungespundet from the wood here, but both times we visited it was pretty buttery. |

July 22, 2009 Not the nicest keller in Bamberg. The beers are not in good condition, and the "U" is disappointing here, 2 for 2 had major diacetyl problems. The pils is fresh and good but even the bottled weizen had issues. Is a nice shady tree-filled garden with tables, not benches and surrounded by nice old buildings so has its charm. The interior is nice too. |

August 24, 2008 The third Keller on the Oberer Stephansberg - more quiet and less crowded than The Wilde Rose and the Spezial. Cozy half-panelled Gaststube and a smaller beergarden: worth a visit, but not really a must in Bamberg |

June 4, 2008 [ Updated June 24, 2008 ] Just down the hill from Wilde Rose, Mahr’s Keller is a picturesque old white building with a seating area inside and a garten in the back. Standard Mahr’s beers available. Not up to the level of the Wilde Rose and Spezial kellers, but still worth a visit (if you have time). |

January 31, 2008 This always seemed like the most reserved and quiet of the kellers. It faces away from town but the view of the countryside is excellent. Mahr’s beers - don’t need to say too much more than that. Closer to the altstadt than the brewery tap. |
