June 22, 2009 One of the leafiest biergartens/outdoor kellers in town with a hilltop setting and a lovely view of the Altenburg. The beers might not be transcendent but they are solid and it’s a great place to sit outside. It’s actually a really good stop en route to or from an Altenburg walk. |

June 11, 2009 I like this spot. Nice garten out back. A range of tasty brews on tap. A hike to get up here but worth it for an overlooked bamberg brewery. The currywurst was nice, too. |

September 21, 2008 I visited this place on a sunny summer day, walking on the hill and quenching my thirst with two good beers (the only they had): the weizen and the excellent helles lager. Nice looking and shady biergarten. Good staff. I will return to this place next time I am in Bamberg. |

November 17, 2007 [ Updated December 21, 2007 ] A pleasant pub to spend time in on a wet Wednesday afternoon. The service was efficient, Lagerbier excellent and atmosphere was pretty good. Well worth walking up the hill from the city centre. |

July 6, 2007 A cozy bierstube with wood panelling and a low hanging cealing making it a bit dark. I think this was the most quiet place I visited in Germany where other customers were present - we ate lunch here, if any body muttered something it was in a whisper. The food was plain German food, but cheap. The service was very friendly. 2 beers on draft and 1 bottle to take away. |

March 27, 2007 I was in the non smoking room, had one beer and some food. The beer was good, the food was not so good. |

December 29, 2006 Good looking brewpub filled with locals. Sevice is efficient, but a bit grumpy. Had an excellent Brotzeit with smoked ham, accompanied by a lager bier and a bock. Worth the hillclimb. |

October 29, 2006 On my last visit, the long climb up the hill was wasted - it was closed for the summer - and unlike Spezial, which was also closed, it’s beer was not even available at the late August street festival. It was a shame, because I think their beer is fabulous, although not quite as perfect as Schlenkerla. |

October 2, 2006 [ Updated October 3, 2006 ] Beautiful spot for a beer outside, sitting under the large chestnuts and drinking their beer from good looking krugs. |

August 9, 2006 Checked out their stunning Biergarten. Rows of old, tall trees, rows of tables, very peaceful and shady. A nice cool breeze blowing and regulars were there chatting early on a lazy Saturday. Leaves falling gently on the tables, spectacular view from the edge to another hill. I’d absolutely love this place on a cool, dark autumn evening, perhaps with fireflies floating by, if they even live in this area. Hard to wipe the contented smile off my face. A good "U" and even better service.
